Well with 1 out and the bases loaded and a pitch in the dirt
and a walk to score a run I would have subbed for another pitcher. That's why I'm watching on TV I guess.
That home plate ump was inconsistent and made some bad calls IMO.

...indicators. HP should indicate key counts with the fingers on each hand, e.g., 3 and 2 for a full count.
Any of the four could correct the unofficial scoreboard for count and outs.
Inexcusable!

the middle of the plate. Then his brain told him, "that should have been a strike, and he recorded in his brain as such."
Guarantee that's what happened.

That guy was really not good behind the plate. It didnât hurt one team more than the other though. He seemed to be calling the outside corner vs LHH or inside to RHB
The WORST was the called strike vs Castine. That was as bad as the one vs Nora last weekend
Speaking of NoraâĻshe seemed visibly frustrated last night with her ABs. Hope to see her bounce back big today.
And I just KNEW that HR last weekend was what Zoe neededâĻHuge RBI double going with the pitch away to RC
And Annika may have had a HR at TSP; Palmer is maybe 210 down linesâĻat TSP thatâs probably just over the wall inside the fair pole

And all of the umpires carry clickers regardless of behind the plate or in the field.

The incident yesterday we would have been making fun of the ump for ringing her up. Weâd all be saying, thatâs only 2 strikes idiot, lol.
What happened this season, a base umpire wasnât being demonstrative in their illegal pitch call so we were unaware in the press box. Home plate would correct me with the count and weâd all say âwhat thatâs not the countâ but then figured out what was happening. Got a little more eagle eye on the base umps that game.

One of an ump's prime directives is communicating to the teams, scoreboard operator, and fans. No excuses!

Most are pretty good with communication, but apparently not last night. UVA was asleep at the wheel if the scoreboard was wrong and if thatâs why he rung her up. I would have been embarrassed if that happened to me. Announcer even mentioned it, bad look all around.

called a pitch right down the middle a ball. His brain overcorrected and he told himself there were now 2 strikes even though he called the ball.
That ball call was worse than the strike call 1 ft outside and low later on Castine.

3 teams on the field. Sometimes the officiating crew is the best team on the field. Not last night which is bad because this is the championship tournament - supposed to have the best of the best, not some jackleg who can't remember the count. Some umps think they're so good they don't need the indicator. Well if you're so good you don't need an indicator how about being so good you don't need a cup umping behind the plate?

assume anything - it WAS a ball. It was the ump who assumed it was a strike and it was he who looked foolish and I'll bet even the pitcher was surprised.

That pitch was soooo obviously a ball.

Think it was ball four, are you batting or umpiring? Not a good umpire but again, as a batter, bat not umpire.
