I don't know enough to disagree and your points make sense, but is that really true? What about TV revenues? Maybe someone has data on that.

Our softball program is successful beyond what it was before our new coach. It is consistent. We had a relatively successful program before our present coach, but nothing like we have now. We are a Top Twenty program in winning now, and often reach a higher ranking, as this season is an example. However, and remember that I am a loyal supporter of this program, there is a limit to how far this program can reach without major financial support, and that support is not there from the athletic program. And it does not seem like there will be the needed support from the athletic program any time soon, if at all, which is what it seems like at this time. We all know that fact is true. We may not be able to reach the financial support that the Texas teams have with big oil and cattle money, but we should try to reach as high as possible, and the athletic department is not going to help that situation. There is an opportunity for our softball program to be even more successful, and we do not need to let the opportunity pass by us, but the financial support needs to be there, and it is going to have to be there from softball supporters. Some of you on here have good comments regularly and know a lot about softball. Your comments and suggestions on our softball program are welcomed and important. Please respond. Let's go Hokies!!!

But, how much ($$$) is that worth to the university? How would the university and the school's sports fans view it? That is what we are up against when looking for more funding. I am concerned that overall, softball is not a popular enough sport to motivate a much larger investment. And relative to MLB, college baseball isn't that popular either. When I talk college sports with my non-VT friends, softball doesn't generate must interest. Even if their college has a strong softball program. When I talk softball with my VT friends, most have no idea how good our team is doing.

You might be able to make a similar argument that DII or DIII that compete at the DI level in men's or women's ice hockey tend to have a bigger following than their revenue sports even if they don't sponsor football. From a marketing standpoint, what (if anything) are those schools doing to promote those programs? Could VT use any of those techniques to help promote any of their Olympic sports better? Now I do think getting more Olympic sport coverage on the ACCN probably would help increase interest in the sport. After all wasn't the intended purpose of the conference network to promote all the sports the conference sponsors?

Yes a bit of a long shot BUT if Mazz gets inna groove and finds her control and Bree stays consistent…those two can keep us in range of ANY team and it’d depend on our bats coming through at the right times. We are just as good as ANY lineup top to bottom; defense is elite, and Mazz is just as good as elite pitchers (when she’s not walking more than 2-3 a game) like Heavener, Maya Johnson, and I’d dare say…since she’s a lefty…just as tough to hit & square up as Jordy (Bahl) Frahm and this year’s version (so far) of Nija Canady who’s been roughed up a little there and there. Mazz’s worst games from ERA perspective were due to walks and one untimely HR (GS vs Duke)

Penn State has won the last five championships with no end in sight. At least in softball, there have been two different national champions in the last two years and there are 5-6 teams that could win it this year, including Texas Tech that has had ZERO history of being able to compete at the highest level. They simply have had an infusion of oil money.

Start really winning individual wrestling titles, psu will come back to the crowd some. 2028 could be very interesting in wrestling.
