Wish and hope every day here that we host a regional.

One of our softball player's grandparents reached out to ask me to find them a room for that weekend.
The only thing I could find was a room at Hotel Roanoke for $1,000+
So needing over 100 rooms may be insurmountable. Hopefully the VT Athletic Department has been proactive on this one.

Can't believe this conflict is restricted to VT.

We’re probably the smallest most isolated town with fewest hotels of any hosting contender

From the NCAA Manual:
Team Allocations: Hosts are required to secure a total of 30 rooms (a minimum of
25 doubles). There is a preference that one king room be a suite for the head coach.
Detailed information regarding the team hotel(s) shall be distributed by the host
institution in the participant manual. Each participating institution is obligated to
confirm the accommodations.
• Officials and teams may not be assigned to the same property.
• Game Officials/Site Representative: Hotel expenses (excluding incidentals) and hotel
parking for the officials and site representative shall be paid by the host. When the
officials (up to six per site for regionals, up to four per site for super re and site
representative(s) (two per site for regionals, one per site for super regionals) are
determined, the tournament manager will provide the rooming list to the hotel.
In addition to the guest room needs outlined above, the following meeting space will need to
be secured:
• Team Meeting Spaces (Team Hotel): One complimentary meeting room, per team,
accessible 24-hours a day for the duration of the event.
• Officials’ Meeting Space (Officials/Site Rep Hotel): One complimentary meeting room
accessible 24 hours a day for the duration of the event.

Website might want to corner VT admin to see if hotels have been reserved just in case

This means that super regionals will be played the weekend of May 22-24 and regionals will be the weekend of May 15-17.
Virginia Tech's spring commencement in Lane Stadium is scheduled for Friday, May 15 and the school specific graduations will not be finished until the 16th....

They already have the dorms being rented out to families, which historically sell out. I can't imagine the demand if we somehow hosted that weekend. I don't see us hosting as realistic, but it could happen since they could tell the inn to hold the 30 rooms and then only release them for booking to the waitlist once the schedule is released. However, I don’t even think they would have the foresight to block off those rooms a year in advance when they go on sale unless they do it every year and we don’t know.

So it's well over 100 rooms total that's needed

There is no way they could hold that many rooms for that weekend on the off chance we host them if they are required to be close to Blacksburg. If they could get away with it, I could see some hotels in Roanoke hosting these teams.

I believe the university has holds on a certain number of rooms around graduation though. But holding 90 rooms in the immediate area could be problematic though.

is for graduation weekend? If they released 100 rooms two weeks beforehand I'm guessing close to all 100 would sell.
This is just more "can't do" thinking.

you have to keep winning
RPI at #14
KPI at #10
DSR at #10
If the season ended today (obviously it doesn't), the Hokies would be a lock for hosting.

inexpensive and fully refundable hotel rooms with decent ratings. Wytheville/Fort Chiswell. There are also rooms with good rooms in Dublin which is 28 miles SE down I-81. But, those rooms are about $200/night more than the rooms just 18 miles away.

"NCAA Division I softball regional hotels must be secured at the time of bidding and are required to be within 30 miles of the competition venue, ensuring equitable quality, amenities, and proximity for all competing teams. Hotels should generally have no outside-opening doors."
"Distance Requirement: Hotels must be located within 30 miles of the host venue."

out of conference games and need to sweep Boston College and Syracuse on the road. We will be favored in each of those 9 games and are clearly better than those 4 teams. Quite a bit better actually.

games. That would put us at 45-8 and should give us a top 16 ranking. But, right, not much room for error. Losing a game or even a series a lesser team (as we have done the last two years to Syracuse and Pitt) puts a lot of pressure on us to win or even sweep the better teams we play. Just winning 2-1 yesterday shows that anything can happen if you have an off game.
