He is one of the best pitchers in the WORLD, having led Argentina to both the World Cup and the Pan-American Gold in 2019.
In the Gold Medal game, Mat and threw a 2 hitter to defeat Team USA 5-0. In the World Cup final, Mata struck out 17 to stun Japan 3-2 in 10 innings. For his efforts, he was named First Team All-World.
He's been with the team a couple of months as a volunteer assistant. As Pete's tweet showed, he has sometimes thrown batting practice.
