Not only is Stanford getting a new SB stadium, California is as well
It was approved in November and is targeted for completion by the Spring of 2026.
The project was approved for $57.95 million - $24,883,000 to be funded from campus funds, gift funds at $3,577,000, and external financing supported by campus funds at $29.49 million.
The project will provide Cal Softball with “permanent spectator seats and concourse, a press box, competition-grade lights, restrooms, a public address system, expanded playing field dimensions to meet NCAA Division I standards, team locker rooms, improved training facilities, a ticket booth, an entry plaza, and circulation improvements along Centennial Drive (UC Regents Section 3). The project also includes updates to transportation, with improvements to adjacent bus stop and sidewalks and the addition of 40 bike parking spaces and three bike lockers in the main entry plaza."

We were all upstairs in an old building. The whole building felt like it was moving, and was creaking. When it dawned on us what was happening, we all rushed down stairs and out of the building.
Of course by then, the shaking and creaking had stopped.
Glad we didn't feel one while in California in 2014. Spent about 2 weeks in southern Cali, between Death Valley and downtown LA.

my geology class in '78! loved that class - wouldn't have survived if I had to take Chem or Bio. Was just in Joshua Tree a few weeks ago.... was recalling that geology class big time while observing the stunning geography of the area.

the Narrows Fault crosses Rt. 460 just about a quarter-mile west of the Celanese plant. You can actually see the cut in the hillside where it has moved over the years. Rt. 460 at that location actually has a lot of cribbing beneath it holding it up in place. The head of the geology department at the time (Byron Cooper) actually told VDOT not to build the road where they did.....they didn't listen and to this day they still have to make periodic repairs to the road at that location.

building I81 between Ironto and Cburg, and also had issues when they widened the southbound side in that area too.
Afton Mountain (I64 and US 250) on the eastern side has issues too. It’s probably why they haven’t constructed a third lane on the westbound side.
I77 tunnel in Bland County also had a lot of issues. Bankrupted a few contractors before they finally figured out how to deal with it.
