FSU had that spot secured before they ever filed that lawsuit. The FSU President or Chancellor probably didn't receive that assurance directly from Sankey & Petitti. However the Administrators at FSU knew through 3rd parties that FSU has a P2 spot.
Clemson has a P2 spot and so does UNC. Others in the ACC may be getting very positive vibes from the P2 as well. However FSU, Clemson & UNC are not going to the Big 12. That rumor is kept alive as click-bait by Big-12 YouTubers. That is all it is with Yormark saying something corny occasionally to fuel his own Big-12 audience. Yormark does have a history in the music entertainment industry.

SEC already has plenty of quality inventory so adding FSU does get them much with respect to additional revenue dollars. Additionally, SEC already has the state of Florida. All FSU provides is an additional regional rivalry. As for the BIG, FSU offers nothing with respect to AAU and academics.
It's all about new states for the SEC. NC and VA are the bigger fish.

They filed suit without a plan.
They want more money somehow. From the acc, the sec, the big ten. Really doubt they would consider the big 12 but ....

No way they engage in a legal fight like this without a very strong vibe (i.e. 3rd party) of a p2 slot. People don't ascend to positions like AD, trustee, etc. by making rash, emotional decisions without multiple contingency plans.
