If UCLA is able to consistently sell out the Rose Bowl for every home game, then why would the school give it up?

The Rose Bowl is synonymous with the Big Ten, Pac-12 and college football pageantry. When the U was at the actual Orange Bowl, there was something cool and even magical about the place relating to college football that pre-dated the NFL Dolphins. But the whatever-naming-rights-stadium the U is playing in now is just lame. Not big time.

and you may be right, but lately the B1G is all in on NFL cities. Maryland, Rutgers, USC, UCLA and Washington are NFL areas.

Once FSU wins the lawsuit (in some form). Then, an immediate bidding war takes place between the SEC and B1G. Where it goes from there, who the hell knows??!

for ND, and may get them sooner if the tier 1 has its own playoff. The only thing that ND will likely join a Conference for is access to the tier 1 pay for play demands you be a member of a tier 1 Conference.

There are a bunch of "blue blood" programs living off past glory: Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, and Miami are probably the worst offenders (off the top of my head). And in some of those cases they're living off stuff that happened 30+ years ago. How would that thinking go over in the NFL? Imagine making the argument that the Washington Redskins were an elite franchise because they won 3 Super Bowls in the 80's/90's. After they were done laughing at you...

ND went 10-3 this year. The only year it didn't have double digit wins during that time period was last year (9-4). 10-3--2017 12-1--2018 11-2--2019 10-2--2020 11-2--2021 9-4--2022 10-3--2023 ND is 73-17 since 2016, with two playoff bids. That is a very good and consistent run, with two head coaches. Those win totals rank up there with or even exceed any such 7 year run in ND history. How would Miami, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Penn State or anyone else feel about such a recent record? Only about 4-6 programs in America have more wins than ND the past 3, 7 or 10 years (however you want to slice it). That is the recent past, not 30 years ago. TV ratings for ND are very good as well. It just signed a stand alone deal for $50 million a year for 6-7 home games because of its fanbase/ratings. That is why Fox, NBC and the Big Ten want ND so badly. The ACC, SEC and Big 12 want them as well. In 2024 they will be behind only Duke and UNC, and tied with FSU, in contributing NCAA units to the ACC's payout from the NCAA. I hate the U like any good Hokie should, but admittedly they've done well in hoops recently.
