12-3 vote and SMU will forgo 9 years of ACC TV revenue, Stanford/Cal start
with only 30%. Wow, the truth is all parties: ACC (FSU/Clemson, UNC, and us), Stanford/Cal, and SMU don't have better options. I think it's a good idea. I am not sure we would get this kind of deal if ACC reacted very proactively. Sometimes you just have to be patient. ** Edited by icelus at 9/1/2023, 10:23:46 AM

So the ACC is giving SMU the ole Big East treatment they gave the Hokies.
We sure have evolved. I would have rather they just said, we will pass. Rationalize all we want but we are no better. Will the ACC one day end like the Big East did? ** Edited by jdkhokie at 9/1/2023, 10:54:33 AM ** Edited by jdkhokie at 9/1/2023, 10:55:02 AM

SMU could turn into the top football team in the ACC. FSU and Clemson are
tops now, but once SMU starts throwing around cash they might bump off one of those teams. They are borderline top 25 in the AAC now. Even a haircut share of the ACC money is better than what they are getting now. Whoever is running things there, either their AD or Prez has his act together. The SMU addition seems to rub people the wrong way more than Stanford and Cal. Some schools just need a better conference affiliation to reach their potential. SMU seems like like one such case. Looks like we're stuck in the ACC, so we might as well get some more money and have better teams to play. This checks both boxes. I'm no ACC fan, but I'm pretty excited about this, relative to the status quo.

SMU wanted this deal.

SMU agreed to it, but would have liked a better deal. Just like VT/Big East

I think SMU will be the VT addition.
It would be fun if they really take off.

I agree. They could turn into a machine. Lots of Dallas talent. They are
pretty good now, despite being in a bad conference.

They are under rated, and now that they can recruit in the "P5", with
their NIL support? Might take a few years, but they will be a tough out moving forward.

Think of the new ACC legends just acquired.
Doak Walker, Eric Dickerson, Craig James, Pop Warner, John Elway, Jim Plunkett, Marshawn Lynch & Aaron Rogers President Herbert Hoover 🤣🤣

Wondering what changed NC State mind?
Lack of trust that UNC will not leave them hanging in future?

I actually don't know why they voted No in the first place, maybe
commissioner just asked them to vote No so ACC can get a better deal from SMU/Cal/Stanford.

Likely only UNC saying they were against it!!

I wonder how much UConn would give us?
Has anyone asked UConn? Maybe we can get them to pay FSU $10 Million a year to join.

lol, I am wondering how ACC is going to share this extra $55M/yr. How much
of them shared equally and how much goes to the reward program.

Yep, but what happened to the $72 million that was thrown out there?
Is the additional $17 million related to the ACCN? Also, wonder how the NCAA is going to allocate the basketball tournament credits the PAC 12 has - allocate prorata based on the number of schools and their new conferences?
I

55M is extra, they said 1M per school just over the extra travel expenses,
total around 72M. They also expect a little bit more from ACC network by getting Cal and Texas, but I don’t know how much.

Ok.
