*IF* the ACC dissolves, would you guys want both VT and UVA in SEC/B1G, or
would you want them to go "one in each conference"?
It would certainly be nice, IMO, to have one go to each of those super-conferences. Local VA residents would get to see a LOT of both SEC and B1G games, both schools would have one premier (at least in terms of conference) noncon opponent already taken care of year-over-year, making scheduling easier.
Anybody have other thoughts on it?
Honestly, I really just hope both schools find a secure landing spot in those conferences, be it separate or the same.

and I don’t care if we split up, but I do want to see both schools in the P2/BIG12.
When VT was in the Big East we played UVA every year from what I remember. We left for the ACC and lost the WVU game, which was a massive bummer to me. I always wondered why we couldn’t keep the WVU rivalry game as an OOC game, since we did just that with UVA.
So this go round, since I think a split is likely, let’s keep the rivalry alive. Makes for better family get togethers in my house.

together, given the economics. Most all additions except FSU, Clemson and perhaps UNC are dilutive to the B10 or SEC's baseline payout without expansion. In that case dilutive entrants get phased-in or haircut shares versus incumbent schools.
Then redundantly add TWO schools in the SAME state and that seems to be even more dilutive. Consequently, I think that VT and UVA end up parting ways.
I pretty much anticipated something like this back in 2011, when VT should have gone to the SEC with A&M. The SEC is such a juggernaut that I'd rather us be in the B10 even though I hate cold weather and much prefer SEC games. I think UVA's academics put it higher on the B10 wish list than VT.
If I had my choice, it would be to the B10 with BOTH schools.

I was speaking of 2 power conferences, Big10 & SEC. There used to be the P5 conferences. Now there are the P2 conferences (pro).
Then you have the M2 (ACC & Big12) (Major College football) and then the old G5 conferences.

Not likely, but possible.
The B1G and SEC might just take the very elite brands and be done with it. UNC, Clemson, FSU and ND. Maybe anything beyond 18 and 20 is just too crazy for them. Or maybe new revenue models might be used in the future where the "state" doesn't matter as much.
If the rest of us end up in the BigXII in that case, I wouldn't prefer it, but I wouldn't hate it.
I just think that both UVa and VT don't want to see the other go to the P2 while itself cannot.

they fall short or fall apart because of the move from cable to streaming, less interest in the superconference teams and games, whatever other X-factor comes along and disrupts it. Part of me hopes it blows up spectacularly and we are left with a lot of pissed off fanbase who really hated seeing old rivalries get destroyed for the dangling carrot of superconference revenue. So much of what made college football great and interesting to watch for decades is being taken away - can it be replaced by the big brands and superconference alone?
