A lot of fans of teams that got "demoted" will tune out of NCAA football altogether, driving down TV ratings and eventually shrinking the sport overall. Look for programs to start de-emphasizing their football programs over the next 10 years. That will result in college football becoming a smaller, regional sport, and the money so many schools are chasing will dry up.

already, this conference nonsense is just dirt on the grave. In a couple or three years, people will sit around asking how did it come to this that nobody cares.

have NO major league sports - college football (maybe basketball for KY) is THE only sport in the state - it's all they got. It's their biggest advantage over the B1G. All the other conferences (especially the B1G) have majority or ALL of their states with one or multiple major league sports. Other than alumni, I think a lot of college sports fans in Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, NY and Maryland will not watch their in-state college team as much if they are just mediocre or worse within their own mega-conference and just tune into NFL especially if the state team is doing well. A lot of them tend to be finicky and will lose interest fast if they get slaughtered every year by playing a schedule with Ohio State, Michigan, Southern Cal, Oregon, Penn State and possibly soon Notre Dame.

clock was stupid, it's making games more watchable, as opposed to college football which is quickly getting unwatchable with the rush to a 4 minute stoppage every time some guy is slow to get up on a play.
