CW network is part Of NEXSTAR media a huge owner of local TV stations
Including stations WAVY (Norfolk) WRIC richmond Lynchburg and Bluefield, as well as separate national CW network. This might be much better in terms of distribution.

I am not saying it's going to happen, but CW could handle an ACC PAC merger.
Right now at a minimum, it is great for recruiting to get exposure in those areas that we have had little to no exposure. For instance if you are a hot shot Girls Softball recruit that wants to go to college in the East, seeing the Hokies or other ACC teams play, helps put them top of mind. Anybody in marketing, sales or recruiting knows this is a valuable thing.

13 football games per season, 26 men's basketball games per season, and 13 women's basketball games per season.
What will be interesting is if The CW wants to make these games into primetime games or just on Saturday/Sunday afternoons.

LIV Golf is 1-6 PM. Do they put us on at 8 PM Saturday? Or maybe they put LIV Golf back-to-back with the ACC game, with a LIV wrap up show at 6 PM, then ACC game after that?
Sat., 9/23 - ACC has home games at Syr, Louisville, Wake, Clemson and Pitt (Raycom's might be Army@Syr, BC@Louis, or GT@Wake, I guess)
Sat., 10/21 - home games at GT, Miami, FSU, Wake and UNC (Raycom's might be BC@GT or Pitt@Wake).
I think an evening CW game on those dates might happen.

Every network must provide X number of hours per week of original programming to their affiliates, and with the writers and now actors going on strike, their will be less shows in the pipeline for the upcoming season. The CW saw an way to provide that programming with a small sports contract where Raycom picks up the production costs and CW gets the programming.
It is similar to the "FOX Plan". FOX was basically The CW back in the 80's until they picked up the NFL, then the NHL, then MLB, and finally NASCAR in 2001. FOX went from a "netlet" to a full blown network in a few years. Now, the ACC isn't the NFL, but it's a way for The CW to get its feet wet in sports programming.
As for The CW's CEO's thinking, he is getting 150ish hours of programming for a bargain, and he is able to now create a pre and post game show that The CW will reap the profits from, and give them a network "star" like a Suzy Kolber that could possibly host the shows.

Raycom does all the production, and all the network has to do is clear timeslots for it. If the CW wants to monetize it, then they will need to produce a pregame and postgame show which I'm sure that Raycom will be happy to produce for them.
With the screenwriters and actors both on strike, the CW needed content for this upcoming season, so that is why it was announced before the PAC deal which won't take affect until the 2024 football season.

CBS, who owned UPN, and Warner Brothers, who owned WB, shut down both of those networks and jointly created The CW as the replacement.

We will see how nexstar networks with the cw and the affiliated tv stations around rne nation. They are the largesf owner of tv stations in the nation.
These networks are here to make a profilt. If rhey find a cheap annimation and can make a profit great. Af nexatar level - they just tell cw executive their profit goals for cw and the executive makes it so. And down ro the individual viewer it doesnt matter- they are getting enough on return of investment to make it work
In regards to tv rights the rights that cw got from raycom is rights acc sold when rhe media deal was signed and it goes as well into 2035. The owners of those rights can broker it anyway they can as well as sit on it and dont broadcast anything as long as they write the reoccuring check agreed in 2016

CW has been reported to want to get in the game, so this could have been a bargain for them because Raycom had to sell its property but that property was limited, maybe Tier 2 stuff. But I feel since CW has more nationwide distribution, it could be more valuable than Raycom. Maybe...we'll see....

money aside, this puts games back on locally where RSN in many cases didn't
seem to have any paid or non-paid subscriptions to many areas. Personally I don't care what the "network" is if I can get a VT game that I can't attend. I won't go to BC for instance so happy to tune in to the CW if they carry that game.

owned 75% by Nextstar Media Group and 12.5% each by original founders CBS(Paramount) and Warner Bros., hence the CW. Nextstar has company owned stations and affiliates. The OP listed some geographic locations but, got the actual affiliate stations wrong.

Will every CW affiliate nationwide show those ACC games?
Or just the CW stations within the ACC geographic footprint? That would be good exposure for the ACC if it's nationwide. It appears the CW is in every TV market, 60+ in the ACC states.

to that question and it was also part of my question to another poster earlier regarding blackouts. If individual affiliates have the option of programming alternatives or if CW does not have exclusive rights to a game there would be the possibility a game may not be shown.
