Btw … I think VT might be closer to Uva and Unc than most think . State also.

decision-makers..the legislator will be involved and they realize both universities have to have acceptable landing spots IF things unwind.

VT and UVA are likely a package deal to the B1G which is the best fit
for VT. That's just my opinion but I think the state knows that they have two valuable institutions that actually complement each other very well. They are not going to harm either one by letting them slip into irrelevance in athletics. Who knows how it actually works out but I think the state has been pulling the strings all along.

Being a “package” would likely harm both. Neither is so attractive that B1G
Would feel compelled to take both. Answer would be, neither. Same for SEC. B12 might take both, but that’s it.

They're not going to split the pie to the point where the payout per team decreases. Frankly I don't think the numbers work on adding any of the available teams with the exception of ND.

but long term - IF there is no ACC/B12/PAC that puts more networks bidding for less college football programming that is in any way relevant.
It is in the best interest of the SEC and B1G to eliminate competition. That will drive bidding on their next contracts even higher. Enough to afford 1,2,...4 more teams with at least the same payout? that is the question.

yes they make more money splitting up down the middle.
but UVA/VT have leverage to use. My guess is both the SEC and B1G will make a play for a package deal if/when that time comes. And if it involves UNC- even more so.

No outlandish press conference -no hypobole like fsu and clemson. They leave their concerns to themselves.
Btw there is a different relationship with athletic directors than crazy fans have with their peer institutions who just look af wins and losses. Most are professional.
