VT and UVA are likely a package deal to the B1G which is the best fit

for VT. That's just my opinion but I think the state knows that they have two valuable institutions that actually complement each other very well. They are not going to harm either one by letting them slip into irrelevance in athletics. Who knows how it actually works out but I think the state has been pulling the strings all along.
