Should Big 12 and Acc merge and make the first "super" conference?
What if the 14 big 12 teams and 12-14 of the acc teams just joined together and started being proactive?
Pac 10 has little value right now so why would Big 12 or ACC add any of them?
if at the very least the current big 12(14) added UNC, duke, syracuse, Uva, VT, GT, Clemson, FSU, miami, nc state, BC and pitt , it could/would be a decent football conference. if somehow miami/fsu (even VT) could get back to prominence the value goes up. Not opposed to going to 28 If ND will join (i am assuming they will not) and louisville.
it would probably be the prominent basketball conference there is and that could be used as selling point early on for tv contracts.
then try and get in with some streaming services that are looking to get into sports (apple, Amazon maybe) and be proactive. sports are moving to streaming and there is some uncertainty with the future of ESPN.
its a bit of gamble but nothing ventured nothing gained.
right now if someone other than clemson joins the SEC they realistically are behind bama, uga, lsu, florida, auburn, texas, oklahoma, perhaps even tennessee and ole miss.
joining the big 10 puts you behind ohio state, michigan, penn state, wisconsin, probably USC and iowa. also ND of they join.
if playoffs expand to 12 teams, then four of those listed teams will not make it. and there s a good shot those not listed never do. If done early enough maybe the new big12/ACC can squeeze an automatic and maybe at large bid to expanded playoffs before te NCAA dies.
it certainly is a risk.......

Sure, but it isn't realistic. None of those SEC or B10 teams are leaving.
