The reason this could be relevant is because VT may want any football team it is affiliated with to continue playing its home games in Blacksburg. While a private entity may at some point want to relocate the team to a more populous area to make home games more profitable for the entity. Also, there is the possibility that taxpayers' dollars could be used to pay for athletic facilities for the private entity even though state laws prevent it from happening for the public schools. The new facilities could even be the reason the team decides to relocate to somewhere else.
