I agree with most of that, but without

language of the actual contract, we don't know if those rivalry games were addressed as exceptions, or that is just how the cookie schedule crumbled. As far as I know, I have not heard of any restrictions on when to have OOC conference games, other than history and tradition. With actual conference games being played in week zero outside the country, there are certainly exceptions to playing all of your conference games at the end of the season. The B12 and ACC are in no position to not accommodate an OOC game with ND, or anyone else that wanted to schedule one later in the season. I think that is up to the schools first, as they are the ones in control of their OOC scheduling for the most part. If there is a contract for the BYU/ND game to be later in the season, the conference would just schedule around it. As usual, without having the actual contract (between the schools and the conference), there really isn't any way to verify it one way or the other.
