The said powers have seen ratings continue to rise with all the decisions
that have been made to date. So in their collective eyes, they believe they are considering the long term implications. what they fail to realize is that the average college alumnus has a limit. We are expected to donate to the athletic department to help with facilities, coaches, buy-outs, etc. now we're expected to up the ante to pay for NIL salaries. Now we're going to exploit 70% of D1 athletic schools and continue to watch the Big 2+ like we're all supposed fans of Georgia, Ohio St, etc? That just ain't going to happen.
The more you marginalized people, the more people are driven off. It's a simple concept that the commissioners are completely ignoring. I used to love college football. I'd watch games all day on saturday and whatever came in between because college football was about college players and I felt vested. I went to college, I knew players at VT and hung out with several of them. I could related to them to some degree. Now, they're all semi-pro professional players and completely unrelateable to myself and the average person. So what's left? My school. Once my school is marginalized, I'm completely out of interest. I can watch the NFL just fine on multiple days, root for my team, and completely lose interest in CFB.
I can count on 1 hand how many college football games I watched last year that didn't include VT.

I don't blame the NCAA - they only have the power the schools vest in them.
