And here’s a bit of Mountain Lake trivia - It is
the only natural lake in the unglaciated Appalachians and the highest-altitude U.S. lake east of westernmost Kansas and south of New England.

An add on, I was offered an extra role in Dirty Dancing
But Kroger wouldn't let me off the next day to go. Could have been a game changer!

You might have put Baby in a corner.

It was full when I was in school. We swam there.

as you're making the box smaller, had flash backs to the jerk...
to the left of bicentennial glasses... anything in this 3 inch area, including the chicklets but not the erasers

Sure wish that "pond" would fill up again

Yeah, it's hard to call it a lake anymore.

Yeah, I remember something like one of only two natural lakes in Virginia..
the other being lake Drummond in the Dismal Swamp.

Lake Drummond...the hottest place in Virginia (along with Suffolk)

Isn't that the truth!
I kayaked there in the summer (August), and the heat coming off the lake was just brutal. Couldn't wait to get back into the canals where it was cooler.

well yeah, sure by virtue of being the most SE lowest elevation in VA....
last little vestige of the swampy SE US, even has had alligators at times.

Yep...plus far enough from the bay/ocean to not have any moderating breezes

is that why they filmed Dirty Dancing there - because it's "unglaciated" ?
