100% still have my Commodore 64 - with running disk drive!

That’s the one computer I can trust. Still have to apply percussive maintenance when it gets stuck loading. Knowing that these AI networks already have sucked in the NYT archive, tons of other data sources, social media data and user preferences means to me that we are in the age of self justifying truths. I swear - I would love grandkids - but think I could go without because of the world they are gonna be in.

One gold post from @bourbonstreet would shut it down!

Honestly though - there are aspects of AI that are pretty neat - when taken with large grains of salt. The LLM when paired with a human for guidance is what I was aiming at. The scary part is when it is allowed to just run (already too late for worry about that) and gather EVERYTHING!

Yep - read it - that’s why I posted this in Lounge.

Thought using the learning functions of AI would be great for board stuff that take time for humans. The programming aspect is fascinating. I’ve always been able to read and debug code - but it’s too dang being to write!

@Will Stewart - have you thought about using AI to monitor boards

I think it would be pretty cool to at least use it in a β€œtest” mode where you can teach it to recognize all the crap you dislike /. Violates TOS etc… and model out bans, warnings and the like to be automated. Again - doing so in a test world but with real traffic would allow you to basically create AI Will Stewart and perhaps eventually offload a lot of that irritating crap to it. Also good to hear about the programming aspects - I am convinced I can utilize several AI’s to turn the DoD DLMS messages into SAP ABAP code and place that code outside the SAP core to save us toms of Dec hours!

I'll watch. The line about losing the war if D-Day failed is a reach.

It would have ended with a German loss no matter what once the US committed.

The Lounge 6 mo ago

That’s awesome. Thanks for sharing - I might have to borrow that one.

I’ll make double sure not to mention the next line at my daughter’s wedding!

Yes! I remember that speech! Small world. I still like Peoplesoft over SAP,

Though I’ve worked longer in SAP. They market Fiori like it’s bleeding edge, Peoplesoft had the web GUI in 2000!!!

I was at the last PeopleSoft conference before the takeover, during the war

Actually ran into Craig in the hallway and told him to give Larry hell! He said, "What do you think I've been doing?", laughed, and gave me a high five. Fighting almost made it worse!

Military Aviation nerds & geeks - never pull the handles on a free ride!

Crazy stuff Dude was getting a free (to him/her) ride in a F-15, and ejects on the damn runway.

And I complain about maintenance on my 2016 Cayenne

The pipeline for spares of a MiG-21 must be a nightmare. But if you have that $$ you just buy the technical docs and manufacture your own.

Airplane nerds -alert. Rare flyover in tribute of Col. Gail "Evil" Peck

Founder of the Constant Peg program, redesigner of Tonopah field, and an all around bad ass. @F4EHokie - hope you stop by for this!

Wait - won’t this camouflage me if I go overboard?

The blueberries were replaced by the guacamoles based on that! Great moments on Naval Acquisition History part xxxxx ** Edited by agray123 at 5/31/2025, 9:28:32 PM

Uhh... I still have one. Disc drive still works. Plus a ton of games!!

Its the original C64 my brother and I got WAY back. Multiple pirated games - it was great growing up in Blacksburg with all the computer nerds in school doing all the good work of getting games. Telengard is a big fave.

The Lounge 1 y ago

I think you are correct. Not counting the one B-26 airworthy

This was the last working Martin airframe - the Hawaii Mars was also retired previously. Bonus note there is a Martin Museum semi close by me - need to haul it down there

An add on, I was offered an extra role in Dirty Dancing

But Kroger wouldn't let me off the next day to go. Could have been a game changer!
