Football hotel rates!
Been a season ticket holder for 30 years or more. Anyone else finding the hotel rates for football games putting the attendance at games out of reach? One hotel close to campus wants $750 per night! Wish someone in the athletic office would address this! Any thoughts?

Do you want them to address it when it is $100 a night in June, July and
August? Not busting on you but hose are the 6 biggest weekends for VT outside of graduation and movein/moveout. It you own a hotel those dates make up for all the low demand periods over the holidays, summers, midweeks etc.

It was affordable, and honestly one of the best trips to the area I've had. Probably need to book a year in advance to get a spot though. They have cabins that at least at the time wouldn't have been too bad on the bank account if you could split the cost with a few people. For all I know, the park is getting in on the gouging by now, though.

I needed to be in Blacksburg last week during move in and $650 was cheapest I could find. Luckily, meetings were canceled.

Wife made reservations at best western in Harrisonburg for $575 a night on JMU Family weekend. Hotels make their profits by hiking rates on high demand dates. We’ve been looking at other options like VRBO and AirBnB

the passenger in the car look for hotels closer to Blacksburg on the way up. You might get a cheaper rate from their same day cancellations.

Also, light traffic once you get back to I-81.
Only make 1 game/year.
Last year we went to the Thursday night WVA game and got an Airbnb in Newport. What a deal; no traffic and 25 minutes once out of the parking lot. This year we have a Airbnb in Bluefield, WVA. Approximately an hour drive opposite direction from most traffic. Picked Bluefield just for something different. We have Mountain View and hoping that we get peak fall colors.

Overall the lodging demand for overall doesnt support alot of hotels. Therefore to ensure lodging businessss make it for the year; these 6 weekends snd graduation have fo carry it

60-90 minute drive on game day there are much better options than paying $750 a night. We’ve stayed in the Floyd/Blue Ridge Parkway area before and that’s an easy commute with little traffic coming up Route 8.

But there are definitely better choices in the general area wrt price than staying in Bburg or thereabouts for $750 a night.
