Hokies have a good chance at a first-round bye in the ACCT.
To do that, you have to be the 9-seed or higher. Tech is #10 in the ACC right now at 8-10. FSU and NC State are right in front of VT at 9-9. Tech has the tiebreaker over NC State and split with FSU. Notre Dame, who currently has the tiebreaker over VT, is right behind Tech at 7-11 (and are winners of 5 of their last 6). So VT needs to catch NC State and stay ahead of Notre Dame to get the 9 seed. Tech has a road game at Louisville and a home game with ... drum roll ... Notre Dame. NC State hosts Duke and goes to Pitt. Tough road. Notre Dame travels to UNC and VT. Tough road.

FSU has Pitt and Miami, NCSU has Pitt and Duke
So VT should become Pitt fans, then beat ND and Louisville and they'll have a good shot at it

Playing around on this site, it appears that
If we win both games, we are pretty much guaranteed to be the 8 or 9 seed. You can change the outcomes of any game and then see the seeds and tournament matchups.

Pretty cool. Can this be pinned so it won't get buried?

I just added it to the Info Center up top.

I think i would rather be a 10 seed
Open up against the worst team in the league, if successful play the 2 seed rather than the one. The 8-9 noon game makes for someone going home very early.

Your reasoning is not.....
out of line. Just as a point to ponder, if the real goal is to win the tourney, whether you draw the 1 or 2 MAY not be as impactful as having to win 5 in 5 days versus 4 in 4 days.

True, although looking at it ...
The 10 seed would play the 2 seed (assuming the 10 can beat the 7), and the 8/9 winner would play the 1. Not much difference. ** Edited by Will Stewart at 3/3/2024, 12:53:08 PM

I would prefer a Tuesday game that has a ticket cost of $1

Piggybackin this will be the 2nd time the 3seed will have at least 7 losses
going into the ACC tourney. Only 2017-2018 where seed 3-6 all had 11-7. 2012-2013 also had a 4 seed with 7 ACC losses. But this is the first time a double bye team has had 8 conference losses. I think it just shows how middling the ACC is this year. Barely any separation between the pack.

Probably safe to say this is the first time the 3 seed has 4 losses by 19+
Embarrassing losses.
