Tyler Nickel's transfer considered one of the ACC's best 247Sports looked at the Top 10 interconference transfers across the ACC in men's basketball and named former North Carolina transfer Tyler Nickel No. 8. Nickel announced his transfer to Virginia Tech on March 30. "Nickel appeared in 25 games during UNC's 2022-23 season, averaging 2.1 points and 0.6 rebounds per game. He shot 37.5% from the field and 22.2% from 3-point range. He scored a career-high 16 points against The Citadel on Dec. 13, 2022. In UNC's 22 games that followed, Nickel logged a total of 76 minutes and scored 18 combined points. "Nickel notched eight points and two rebounds in 25 minutes at Virginia Tech on Dec. 4. He returns home to the state of Virginia, where he is the all-time leading scorer at the high school level."
