So now 19 wins, with wins over Duke, UNC & UVA is now a bad year? NBA is
full of their players, especially the first two, and they will have plenty more. Help me to understand why? Because I don’t get the constant downing of our year, after let’s face it, not that many good years in over one hundred years of basketball. I know we started off hot, but just the injuries to Catoor and Rice with only 5 on the floor should have IMHO adjusted expectations. It’s not like we have the basketball history of Duke, UNC or recently UVA. I mean it’s going to take a while before we make and progress in the NCAA tournament every year. What’s that UNC missed it this year, and UVA last year, are expectations out of whack, because we won the ACC last year? There is definitely a positive to high expectations, but please don’t let that lose sight, that sustainable winning takes time.

by 10 or fewer points. It's not like we were getting blown out. We were in every game between late Dec and the end of Jan and we lost all of them. At some point the law of averages has to work in your favor.
Rice and Cattoor's injuries were huge. that put a strain on Pedula and forced MY to play Collins probably 3x more than he would have preferred
We expected to make the tournament this year and could have if we had just beaten BC, GT and won between 1-3 of the tight games in conference.

every year, the years with the best opportunities are the ones you can least afford to disappoint. The season is done and I'm not going to rehash it, but comparing this past season to say the 2014-2015 season means nothing. With the returning talent that we had, we should have been a tournament team, and we weren't. Hopefully, CMY and the boys can exceed expectations in 2023-2024.

I liked your post but we have had a lot of winning years of VT basketball
over the span of the program. Growing up in the 60s and going to high school in the early 70s and then VT in the late 70s, we had a winning year every year except for the .500 season the year after our '73 NIT Championship. No, we don't have the trophy case that UNC or Duke has but we've won a ton of games over the years. Except for the Bill Foster oasis, our worst years were from the late 80s until Greenberg got here and then the two year Johnson debacle - other than those years, we have been consistent winners. I do understand for younger fans that we have not been near as good as football was during the 90s and 00s.
I guess it is all perspective.

..finished sub-500 in conference. Simply a very disappointing finish, especially after everyone came back from injuries and we continued to lose.

This past year the players all said good things but basketball wise the chemistry this year just seemed off. That was the biggest surprise to me. The big wins were nice but please can we beat BC.
