Posting History (168)

I’m really surprised folks are still using streaming sticks. We have 3

different brands of smart tvs and they all are loaded with apps including the ROKU channel. Also my cable box has the same apps.

The only thing that would make it better is a loud

β€œ LET’S GO HOKIES” at the end. Still a great welcoming view of Blacksburg and Virginia Tech. Very well done.

The most uncomfortable game I can remember was the hurricane Isabel

game vs Texas A&M Sept 18, 2003. Wind driven rain, soaked to the bone even with my Frogg Toggs rain suit.

Just saw the dumbest commercial. A lady is talking about her

husband who died unexpectedly. She states that β€œnever in a million years” did they think they would ever need life insurance. I wonder how long they thought they would live!? The commercial was for ETHOS insurance.

Think back to the late 1970s when Johnny Majors became coach at Pitt. He

had one recruiting class that signed somewhere between 76 and 90 recruits. Won a national title.

I could but at my age I probably wouldn’t live long enough

to get them properly broken in. And, to be perfectly honest, the button fly was not best feature of jeans.

Yesterday was a sad day. My Levi’s button fly jeans, that I’ve

had for more years than I can remember, finally decided to call it quits. The jeans developed a rip that started just below the center belt loop to just above right rear pocket. I thought about trying to stitch it back together, but realized the fabric was too fragile to hold the stitches. Not sure what year I bought the jeans but I’m certain I wore them to VT football games in the early to mid nineties. I remember the 1994 Gator Bowl that was played in Gainesville Fl when someone asked me if I was wearing a hillbilly tuxedo (denim jacket over my Levi’s jeans). Anyway, I lovingly folded them and gently placed into the trash bin and wheeled it to the curb to be picked up today. MAY THEY REST IN PEACE.

Growing up and living in SWVA for 60+ years I always had lots of friends,

family and coworkers who were Hokie fans. Since moving to Florida in 2012 I’ve depended on TSL to converse with like minded fans. Still feel like I have a connection to VT thanks to Tech Sideline.

Want commend you on your decision to go on The Sabre

to express your disdain toward the Hoo whiners. I noticed they did not take kindly to your invasion of their domain.

Bowden could have taken FSU to the SEC but chose the ACC.

His initial contact with the SEC was met with a snub and to add salt to the wound the SEC brought USCe to the fold. Later when the SEC suggested the conference would be open to the Noles application for admission, Bowden basically showed them his middle finger.

The final score is obvious. 29 to 21 in favor of USCe. I'ts simple math.

Rounding the numbers up, the spread is 8 in favor of the Gamecocks. The over/under for points scored is 50. The only way for that to happen is for the score to be 29 - 21.

Dang CC I know it’s your job to analyze and use statistics

to backup your statements. But using facts and figures is such a buzz kill for those of us who like to just spitball off the top of our head. ** Edited by seekoHoG at 8/5/2025, 3:09:59 PM

Better yet Stop Taking Notes. Take notes while watching the replay.

Stay focused on what is happening on the field. Things like clock, personnel on the field, down and distance, communicate with the coordinators ...so on and so forth.

Shall we compare strength of schedule?

Nah, let’s pretend that VT would have the same results if we were in the SEC for the last three decades.

Red Lion… had standing reservations there for several years

… how time flies. Late 90’s early 2K’s. What a great time to be a Hokie! Had to move to the Sleep Inn at exit 101 in Dublin. Stayed there so often they started sending me Christmas cards. ** Edited by seekoHoG at 6/22/2025, 11:27:42 PM

I have xfinity cable AND You Tube TV. We are comparing

Features one vs the other. Between the two I still prefer cable vs YT. Functionally cable options ( RE FF PAUSE etc) work more smoothly . My universal remote works great with cable but not so much with YT. I have to use the Samsung TV remote for YT. I’m sure we will eventually move away from Xfinity, but I’m guessing as our YT trial ends we’ll stay with Cable for the near future.

Our new Chevrolet Traverse does not have any kind of true gear shift. It

has a small lever that sticks out of the steering column that is nothing more than a switch that electronically changes gears. When you push the button to kill the engine it automatically moves the gear indicator to Park. To add insult to injury, on most limited access highways, the Super Cruise feature lets you drive hands free (except on Interstate 95 in South Carolina).

Churchill War Rooms. Also consider buying

LONDON PASS with Oyster Card. Gives access to most of London’s attractions plus transportation.

No, the series is not fine. The only benefit from a win is to improve the

chances of going to a bowl game. Frankly if Tech needs that win to make a bowl game then the Hokies have no business going to a bowl.

I could not believe how a team as experienced and talented as the 2024

Hokies were so under prepared in the early season games. The entire coaching staff shoulders the blame for that. Part of it was poor player development, part poor game planning, part in game coaching and part conditioning. The team was running on fumes in the 4th quarter. I'm really hoping the coaching changes and improvement in locker room attitudes will make a difference this year.

I firmly believe VT and UVA are on different paths after 2030. They are

not a package deal. Neither school will decline an opportunity to join one of the P2s even if the other is left behind. Circumstances will be vastly different than 2003/4.

As a minimum with performance incentives that could add dollars

based on conference and/or poll standings, OOC record, bowl destinations, perceived value based on TV ratings …

Also in 2003-4 UVA had nothing to lose by supporting VT. They were already

in the ACC. When the next round of realignment comes along VT and UVA may support each other publicly, but I doubt either university will turn down an invite to one of the P2s even if it means leaving the other behind.

Research dollars are an important consideration but in the past,

as it was described to me, the makeup of the faculty has not met the standards for AAU membership. I assume that means their individual accomplishments have not put them at the top in their field of study. It seems rather snobbish to me.

You’re kidding of course …right? When I first went to workforEastman KODAK

we were required to take all two weeks of our vacation. As one accumulated additional weeks we could bank part of our current year’s vacation for use in future years but must take at least half of your earned vacation time each year. George Eastman believed time away from work was important to maintain a healthy work/life balance. ** Edited by seekoHoG at 2/9/2025, 3:16:42 PM

Well, Tech looked like a team on the rise at the end of 2023. Returned

most of the production in 2024 and IMHO wasted the talent. I just don’t see this coaching staff having what it takes to get the most out of the returning and incoming team. Plus game planning and in-game adjustments not strengths of this staff.

By individual players, sure. I do not believe in my

lifetime the leadership at the top of the NFL ever went into a season with a plan to have two specific teams end up in the title game.
