Posting History (92)

Key is will Johnson and

Hansberry return to their top form. If they do and with Hammond that is three solid acc veteran starters. Those three with solid support should be at least a 500 team. They should run through the occ schedule pretty easily. Hopefully one or two of the transfers are up to the task in acc play and this team could surprise us.

So I have read that our budget

for the basketball team is in the bottom 25 % for the acc. So what is our budget? 5 million for the entire roster?

Just for fun how would our former players

Fair against our current squad. Collin’s, Nickel, Wessler, Young, Camden. Might be a competitive game!

Hope he is back for acc play

If we can get by George mason. We have three easier games and then open up on 12/30 with uva.

What is giving up on defense?

Great numbers 13 a game but is he giving up20? He was kind of a defensive liability here. Maybe it was MY system

That 2018-19 team was loaded!

Walker, Hill, Robinson and blachshear. Wow. Outlaw and Radford. I’m not sure who on this years team would start or on that team.

Schutt seems to have no

Interest in driving to the basket. He mostly just shoots threes off screens. Not being effective right now. He does appear to be a good passer and defender

Lawal, Burnham, and Brown all need to start

and play major minutes for this team to score, I know that will hurt us on defense. But at least they attempt to drive to the hole and open up lanes verses our spot up shooters. Look at these FG %, Lawal .61%, Burnham .44% and Brown .45%. I really like Schutt but he refuses to drive or challenge his defender mostly shoots threes and he is shooting .36% overall and .35 from threes. Young does try to drive a little but he is shooting just .32%. Hammond will continue to get better has to get majority of the minutes at PG he is shooting way better that Rechsteiner. ** Edited by grtmmt at 1/2/2025, 12:51:05 PM

I was/am a big Nickel fan but

man he was terrible on defense. He was just to slow to guard wings and not strong enough to guard power forwards or 4s. He gave a great effort just not athletic enough. Now it may of been Coach Youngs scheme and he may be better at Vandy on D, I guess tonight we will see.

False that is last years team

Who was at best a NIT team and lost in the second round. Now if we had Rice with this team perhaps.

there was several times where he made a move drove to the basket and

instead of attacking the rim or pull up jumper he passed it. Some were good ideas to open players but they were not anticapting the pass so a turnover. Hopefully they will get this figured out.

today I read where Sports Illustrated picked us to come in last!

The highest I have seen us is 13 out of 18 teams. So, no one has us having much of a season and I get that with so many unknows and now Miller apparently not playing. A lot of unproven players have to reach their potential for us to success. I think we will surprise people but of course I am wearing orange and maroon glasses.

I would be surprised

If miller and burnham are not the top two scorers. Young and Schutt right behind them. Looks like rech will come off the bench.

Catoor avg. 13.5 points a game

Plus 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Tough for schutt to do that I agree. If he does we can be 500 team maybe slightly better. If he doesn’t we are probably heading to sub 500 and bottom third in the acc

I think Schutt is the key to our season

If he can stay healthy and live up to his potential we have a shot at .500 season plus. We need him to match Catoor production and defense. Wild card is Jones how much of an impact will he make as a freshman.

The three freshman may be the key

I think we have kind of an idea the impact the transfers will give us and the few players returning. We should be solid at PG and wings. Have some solid options at 4 and 5 which should makes us a solid .500 average team, but if Jones, Hammond and Johnson can play impactful minutes by January we could approach 18-20 wins. But hard to tell with freshmen! Big if.

I visited the Cal board on Brown

Some posters were complimentary and though he would improve the next few years, but other threads talked about his lack of ball handling skills and turnovers.

I hope that is the case,

someone reported that Kidd is getting $500K for one year as a back up center at Miami, that cannot be right?

serious question just how far behind is

our NIL basketball money compared to the rest of the ACC and D1 basketball in general? I mean it is not like our 2025 returning roster is that attractive. We had two good starters and one other solid starters that could of returned and an average bench at best. So are these kids really leaving for more NIL money? I mean how much are we talking about here? There has to be more to this than NIL money.

question is how many roster spots are open at UK?

looks like they have 5 returning players and two recruits. five players transferring out! ** Edited by grtmmt at 3/26/2024, 1:38:30 PM

Six or seven

I would guess poteat and Camden are gone ** Edited by grtmmt at 3/26/2024, 7:16:59 AM

Brooks needed to play Samyha Suffren

more this season, she is the most athletic player on the team and just needs experience. Even 5 minutes a game would of helped.
