For Volleyball. I'm sad they have punted on Volleyball as I think their approach was unique. But LOVB has started to become an unstoppable force in Volleyball...I'm mixed on them...I see positives and negatives.

I paid more for my daughter to drive a 12 year old Camry than I did for a brand new Lexus. Even before you add her to the drivers list, added a third (or 2nd) car is more expensive in insurance than you'd think. Whatever cost savings you may find by buying now will probably be minimal when you add in the extra cost of having an extra car.

I don't think VT can get very far in the ACC right now with where the conference is nationally combined with how far ahead the nig boys facilities are, even with a change in the head coach. We've talked about how our basketball facilities are behind the other schools, but volleyball is even further behind. Yes the players that left have made comments about them staying if there was another coach, but we haven't had elite players at VT. There are Virginia players that are leaving the state without even considering VT, or UVA. One just won a National Title at PSU as a Captain of the team. VT is a great school, but so are most of the top 25 teams that all have better facilities. Better coaching staff and more support. VT does not care about this sport or they would have made a change already. That's okay, I'm not asking for them to care that much. I've also given money to that program and even coached one of the players in high school. But I look at other ACC programs and we just can't compete without some major changes. Shoot, NC State's facilities make ours look dark and old. That isn't going to change until renovations are done and it still may not change enough for this sport.

I've heard the coach is hard to play for...her long term assistants both left last year to be head coaches DIII teams...I'm just not sure she's the right fit at this point. I don't think VT Volleyball will ever be really competitive enough with our facilities (the big boys are not sharing an old facility with basketball). We are way behind even mid-level volleyball programs in the ACC. With SMU and Stanford joining the ACC, that's 4+ top 10 programs in the ACC with Louisville, Pitt. NC State, FSU, and Miami all are way ahead of VT. VT is a hard place to win right now, but I also don't think we'll get much advancement with the current staff....and we certainly should be getting more than 1 win the ACC.

last episode (5). I've been pretty neutral on the show, it's getting a ton of negativity from fans, but I don't think it's been that bad.....and then episode 5 dropped this week. My god that's some really bad writing. Not to spoil too much...but first, it wasn't too much of a surprise who the bad guy was and I don't get how whatever he is, he was able to eliminate so many Jedi. Second, there's a moment where a Jedi could kill him and he gets stopped, only to have the person who stopped him try to kill him a different way that's less effective....only to have him survive. WTH is that? Don't kill him, but 10 seconds later, let me try...and fail? Stupid. So stupid. I don't want to get into the woke approach, I'll accept I'm not the target audience and I really don't care about that aspect.

Their salaries are probably in the bottom half of the ACC, but honestly, I'm not sure the current staff is going to last much longer. One long term coach just left for the Lynchburg University job. The word in the volleyball community is VT isn't going to get better until there's a coaching change. And, the ACC is about to get a lot harder with Stanford joining next in a few months. I don't think volleyball is any different than any other sport, it's not like we have always been awesome in softball, wrestling, baseball, men's soccer, or women's basketball. Just go find the right fit and hope we can hold onto them.

If they become employees, then they have rights they don't have now. For example, they can sue for medical for the rest of their lives. The NFL has collective bargaining agreements which sets up who get medical insurance and for how long. If the colleges start paying the players as employees, then they will eventually be on the hook for medical cost and insurance past their time as players. That could start once the players start a union or it could start with a court case. Either way, it's coming and that's a major long term expense most colleges can't afford. I want college to have student athletes. The problem is football, and really basketball, really aren't going to work under that model anymore. In a perfect world, I'd honestly rather colleges just let football go and stop trying to be a farm system for the NFL, but that's not going to happen either.

Tournament? Then they could have 100% control, give the non-P2 schools a dollar more than the NCAA does and they will come. The only reason the NCAA exists right now is because of the tournament revenue that funds them.

does everyone have to get upset about it? It really isn't our business what she wants to do with her money, how much she's kept, or if she wants to ask for more. You don't have to give. This is not much different than a football or basketball coach making millions while asking us non-millions-per-year people to give to NIL or scholarships. The "anti-rich" crap gets old. I read somewhere she was "worth" $10 million. That's really not that much for someone that was on two multi-year run shows and did a handful or more movies. Who knows if she actually still has $10 million because usually those articles about the worth stars have are looking at how much you've made during your career. If you made $50,000 a year for 30 years, they'd say you have $1.5 million, but that's not how life works.

year old's decision. I stayed out of it for the most part. Honestly, ECU, UNC-Charlotte, UNC-Willimington, Radford, CNU, Mary Washington, and JMU all had better experiences with the on campus tours/visits.

students. My daughter applied and would be 5th generation to go there, yet has no intention of going, even if she does get in. They don't announce for a few more weeks. The surprising thing is their tour was down right horrible (literally ended the tour by War Memorial with no direction back to the visitor center) and there had been almost no communication. Every other school beat VT in both categories. It's really sad. Yes, they get more applicants than ever, but they put no effort at getting anyone to actually go there. If my daughter gets into VT and JMU (both are pending), I'm pretty sure she's going to JMU. That's a shame.

Sthe years. Expanding the playoffs is good for everyone, mostly the P2, but also for the other teams. FSU is right, the ACC has proven time and time again they don't understand how important football is to their revenue. Adding BC, Syracuse, Pitt, Stanford, Cal, and SMU really doesn't make sense. Really, SMU probably makes the most sense from a football perspective.

The market for the players is higher than what the NFL would be paying. The NIL has already covered this. There are redshirt freshman OL players that will never actually play getting paid $100K a year right now. The current system means the NFL doesn't have to spend a dime on college players.

players that graduate or declare for the draft each year. That's not even counting the FCS, D2, or D3 players. Maybe the NFL could sign development deals with maybe 1,000 incoming freshman each year, but the NIL already covers that so the NFL can save their money.

basketball tournament? If they are getting $1 Billion now for the NCAA tournament, don't be surprised to see the Big10, SEC, ACC, and maybe the Big12 decide a four conference tournament would also be worth $1 Billion and the NCAA tournament slowly disappears.

If FSU tells you they'll never leave the ACC, I probably wouldn't believe them. UNC would attack you for even suggesting they would leave their beloved ACC, their sister NC schools, and the like minded academic integrity and excellence that the fellow ACC schools bring to the conference. All while having fake classes, paying off the right people, and asking, no expecting, an invitation into the NFL, NBA, WNBA, and any other league they feel is their birthright.
