One issue you haven't mentioned is your "savings" could actually go away

with increased car insurance, whatever you're paying in car tax, and maintenance of an additional car. Wait until she actually gets her license, that car insurance will skyrocket. I paid more for my daughter to drive a 12 year old Camry than I did for a brand new Lexus. Even before you add her to the drivers list, added a third (or 2nd) car is more expensive in insurance than you'd think. Whatever cost savings you may find by buying now will probably be minimal when you add in the extra cost of having an extra car.
