Please not another defensive coordinator. We need an offensive mind.

In this time of desperation. I think it’s one of the best most marketable things surrounding this program right now - the staff keeping this class intact and excited to jump in and help would be a big sigh of relief. It’s not the right level but it’s got some talent, you can see it with quite a few on fire, and a start.

May not be saying this exactly right but this group folds and looks to ‘know’ they are going to lose. That to me is what a losing culture is - I do not see an expectation to win coming from the program. That’s just an opinion and intangible mostly so I could be wrong, I’m not there day to day, but they just don’t exude a winning aura to me. And that’s not to say they don’t play hard - I think they do - they are trying - but consistent collapses by the entire program staff and players is more than just stats and data - there’s an atmosphere involved in winning, in finishing. And they don’t have it yet.

You have to win this game. True freshman, at home, up 2 scores, that’s just humiliating.

This was absolutely a two-way street, it is silly to think the coaching staff played no part in this miss, they absolutely did through their garbage coaching approach, AND it’s equally silly to think that hooker carried no responsibility either. He absolutely did. Both are true. And it’s perfectly ok to say that. Sucks for VT, no matter the real truth this certainly hasn’t helped anything - but I wish him nothing but success. I can’t stand Tennessee, but hope the kid continues to ball out. Seems like a good young man at heart.

Zero chance it was Bowen, don’t care what political feedback they try to force out to public, it was night and day. And why in the world only 1 quarter, especially when it was ROCKING, went right back to full garbage in the 4th?? Things need a shakeup.

Whatever that change is has energized this O and Wells. They look like a different team. That’s not magic or just working harder lol, something has been altered and it needed to be.

Finally seeing a little bit of fire and it’s about time a head coach holds himself and his staff as accountable as they seem to hold the players. It’s not all about perfect execution with a bunch of young adults. To me Pry it’s saying all the right things, thinking about and focused on the right things, etc. The real question now is can he execute on those things? Will he make the needed changes unlike staffs before him? We shall see. But I like him and where his heads at, and find his transparency refreshing. He seems to have a good sense of things, good pulse on it all, and what everyone is thinking and frustrated about. He seems to take full accountability for it ALL and I will take that as a starting point all day long. Agree he’s absolutely still learning, and I think he needs to be a bit more involved in certain areas/certain ways. I do believe he will get there. Again, we shall see.

This is part of the culture rebuild - the loser soft fearful mindset hammered in here from the last group was fully awful.

VT has some of the best fans in the nation - a fanbase you are part of. They just deserve a much better product. And this isn’t one bad year, stop trying to spout that narrative - it’s a lot of poor years, not just under Fu. Not excusing the few fakes that DO exist, like literally every fanbase in the world, just stopping this nonsense that VT is an anomaly and has some overly bad fanbase because some fans are sick of underperforming. That’s ALL fanbases. VT is in fact one of the best of the bunch. VT is lucky to have the fanbase it does for winning nothing of substance for years on end. Again, VT has won NOTHING for YEARS. And often looked like trash doing so. I’d say the program is spoiled rather than this fanbase. Another BS pansy narrative. People that knock and blame fans are just as sad and whiney as the dopeys that want to can Pry after a handful of games.

There’s some talent in there. I believe they are recruiting the right skill / tool sets for what they want and need. But VT absolutely without question needs to work the portal in the off-season in key positions.

And without hesitation. Not specific to Holt or anyone else, this to me is really about Prys ability to be the head dog and make the right / sometimes difficult decisions when needed. This will tell all IMO about whether he’s long for the HC role or not. Can’t play buddies and favorites, have to play what wins. And that’s easier said than done. This separates the real leaders. If he does that, he will put himself in position to be very successful, hopefully here :)

Standup man right there - anyone still holding onto the empty sack of FuCorn, still blindly defending them, needs to listen to more of these kind of Hokie greats who know and understand a heck of a lot more about all of this than any of us. I absolutely loved his honesty. And that’s why I confidently say they were a disaster. They were. And now the long cleanup has begun. And if guys like him believe and support Pry, at least for now, then I feel compelled to do the same. Three years, let’s see what this group can do.

Fans won’t be as patient and shouldn’t be today - my gosh guys that was literally 30 YEARS ago. That’s like saying kids should be happy with Nintendo and Furbys today. Cmon lol. Let’s have a modern relevant view. There’s WAY too much money involved today for fans to wait 7 years for a positive trend. And that’s not the fans fault. I laugh every time I read people on here still trying to blame the fans. How about, oh I don’t know, perform and win like your paid millions to do? How about some of you tell your bosses / companies they should give you X years to show results? To be patient while they pay uoh and watch you lose accounts? LOL yeah, exactly. Have fun with unemployment :D

Not gonna win many against Clemson or OU, just the facts - but love that he’s that caliber guy as a 3 star, good sign for staff evals… Keep taking shots - like Pry said, won’t win them all, but gonna win some - just not many against the in state national title program :)

Highly unlikely, more likely to get blown out, but this would be a monumental surprise that could catapult to other positive things in year 1 Extremely doubtful but we’ll see - why they play the games right? Feel like at some point they will pull off an eye opener…

I’m going to believe in them and give them their shot, just like the last one. Show us something by year 3, a positive trend. Can’t do that or the trend is negative then it’ll be just like the last, garbage. But I really do think these guys are a very good fit for VT, light years better than FuCorns sh!t show. We’ll see about some of the staff, maybe need to change a piece or two, but again overall I’m a fan despite the initial struggle. I really like their approach and attitude and plan to turn the tide. Can they execute? We shall see. And yep I would’ve taken BV in a heartbeat - I def get your point, it’s a jungle out there and VT is no OU - very rough road ahead to rebuild Fus disaster. But it CAN be done under the right leadership. Hoping we have it now!

And got told that was stupid, everything was just fine, staff knows all, blah blah blah. That group lived in denial and just didn’t want to believe the glaring truth and the obvious decline trend - how clear it has become to ALL now.

It’s that simple. When students struggle to learn you don’t blame the students you go straight to the teachers. That’s the way it works. The buck stops with the staff end of story. Hooker is easily one of the grandest failures of the many from the FuCorn regime. You should probably listen to more former players and folks tied to the program instead of making up what you want to believe to be true because you have some reason to constantly defend the staff that destroyed a program. The offensive “GURUS” failed to develop a single QB, drove the 2 best off, and left the O with literally NOTHING in the cupboard. Cmon, this isn’t rocket science. They stunk in the end for VT. And they also packed it in for a year or two after it was clear they were on the chopping block. Again not about what we think or want to believe, this is from folks that know much better than we. The last regime was awful for this program and left it in shambles that will now take years to correct. There’s nothing to defend. UT provided the coaching a rising star needed, and FuCorn did not. And because of those two he was never going to success here. End of story.

This time has to work. This program can’t sustain another round of failure for years in this ever changing landscape. I don’t see another rebuild for this program - if this try bombs this program will likely never recover to any level of true P5 success. This isn’t a blue blood. VT can’t hang like that. We have to pull for this guy… no choice.

They seem surprised by how bad this group is every week, I would’ve figured Pry would be pretty attuned with real talent vs what he has from his time at PSU. How they thought this group was going to run the ball or that Wells was going to be routinely marching downfield is beyond me. These practices must be out of sight.

VT hasn’t been nationally relevant in about 20 years. This is no knock on Pry here just laughing hard at any spoiled comment. That’s dumber than people over judging after a couple of games. This program is a long ass time away from the 10 win years. Stop making excuses and blaming fans, that is such bush league pansy BS that losers do. This has nothing to do with fans. The program blows right now and it isn’t showing any signs of life. People are sick of it. I mean, not rocket science. I think we gotta give him time to show whether he’s the guy or not, but NO ONE can claim he is - just words with no proof yet. Can’t claim he isn’t either. We have not choice but to wait and see and hope and pray.

I don’t get this - I don’t expect anyone better but play someone else to get them some time in This is a bit ridiculous.

I mean they are fully terrible and I’m sure they all know it now. Losses are going to pile up boy… feel for them all. I know they certainly are trying and working hard, but this is clearly a lost cause. I don’t envy them player or staff one bit.

But I get the true old timers could bring more context. This is pretty awful for the modern program. Might end up one of the worst seasons ever?
