Does everybody agree we would have taken
Venebles as the VT coach in a hot minute? And at OK with a lot of talent they just got slapped around by TCU and are not playing well. So give Pry and company a chance. We never could have afforded Venebles to start with and he never would have come to VT

I’m going to believe in them and give them their shot, just like the last one. Show us something by year 3, a positive trend. Can’t do that or the trend is negative then it’ll be just like the last, garbage.
But I really do think these guys are a very good fit for VT, light years better than FuCorns sh!t show.
We’ll see about some of the staff, maybe need to change a piece or two, but again overall I’m a fan despite the initial struggle. I really like their approach and attitude and plan to turn the tide.
Can they execute? We shall see.
And yep I would’ve taken BV in a heartbeat - I def get your point, it’s a jungle out there and VT is no OU - very rough road ahead to rebuild Fus disaster.
But it CAN be done under the right leadership. Hoping we have it now!

The school put him in a bad spot by being horribly under-resourced. But he isn't a great recruiter and doesn't seem to be a great culture-builder.
So, we're starting anew with a first-time head coach and very inexperienced coordinators in the hopes that we can bring in more talent. We'll see.
I think Pry is a fantastic culture fit. He seems really dedicated to recruiting. I'm more concerned about the inexperience at the coordinator spots than anything else.

Should’ve just fired Fuente a year or two earlier
Still could’ve hired pry in those cycles also

Wouldn't we have hired Tony Elliott instead?

And got told that was stupid, everything was just fine, staff knows all, blah blah blah.
That group lived in denial and just didn’t want to believe the glaring truth and the obvious decline trend - how clear it has become to ALL now.

...we were one redzone TD from winning three games. I lost it after the 3rd, and I still rag on Fu to this day. He deserves it.

it was not a denial things were not trending negatively but, rather a belief that one of the greatest assets VT has in terms of attracting coaches and/or players is that the fan base and administration are patient, knowledgeable and look to give the person every benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to succeed or fail on their true ability. VT is unlikely to ever have the most money or a host of other advantages some schools possess and they have to recognize their own strengths.

We carried the bum way too long after his limitations became obvious!!!

you'll occasionally be right. The hindsight bias isn't that the NATTs didn't think Fuente should've been fired -- it''s that they forget all the times they wanted to fire a coach or bench a player or stop running jet sweeps or WR screens and sticking with said coach or player or running those plays actually worked out. That's the revisionist history/hindsight bias piece at play.
But, of course, that doesn't apply to the TSL posters. They are always right about both strategic and tactical football decisions -- with no benefit of hindsight. LOL.

Fan bases are largely dumb and reactive.

You're nuts.. most people don't apply that to "every" coach!
Then there are those who continue to defend the coaches after half the world can see that they're failures. Then when the incompetents eventually get fired, they claim that hindsight is 20-20 when they were actually blind as a bat to start with

on it's way .... i don't know- but there was lots of barking about then the press conferences- i mean you really need to win more games if you are gonna be a drama queen -

which was the case at Clemson. Now he has to face more roster talent, especially once they enter the SEC

Hoping Venebles continues to get slapped around 🤔

I wouldn't have wanted Venebles here
just because I hate hearing Herbstreit saying his name over and over
