Posting History (191)

Here are some teams 5-6 or worse. We likely lose to most (all?) of these.

Kansas Utah Michigan State Wisconsin Oregon State UCLA UCF Arizona Cincinnati NC State Auburn Kentucky We definitely are not the best team out there with a losing record.

Arguably the worst collection of coaches/coord among the P4, if not FBS

If Pry doesn’t blow up his staff this offseason he needs to be fired. Whiff Babcock should be fired for allowing Pry to build a staff comprised of first-time greenhorn coordinators. Inexplicable. Athletic Director malpractice combined with coaching malpractice.

I can’t deal w/nonstop end-of-half coaching malpractice.

Defense actually stepping up better today so far and we get in scoring position then Bowen unleashes what he probably thought was some genius-level play lol. Only to ensure we now have a longer, lower percentage FG that misses β€” thus leaving points on the field. The coaches are a masterclass in situational game mismanagement. This is why we can’t win close games.

Schlee played hard. Bowen ran qb w/bum ankle. Defense shat bed after half.

Ending second half with all timeouts. Wtf. Use them to give offense some time, any time to get in position for a FG. At least try ffs. Coaching malpractice. Running a hurt limping QB with a bum ankle on designed run. Coaching malpractice. Defense completely crapping the bed in second half. Wtf.

DC Guidry at Miami talking about in-game and halftime adjustments.

Wish we had hired experienced coordinators instead of our greenhorn learn-on-the-job crew

I think South Carolina had a 40yo WR back in 2005.. Tom β€œPops” Frisby

He was a retired 20yr army vet and father of 6 when he walked on and made the team as a WR. Didn’t really amass much in the way of playing time or stats, but still.

Perhaps I’m reading this wrong but this comes across as an insulting take

Your premise seems to be that criticism of the program and coaching staff is the result of misdirected personal issues on the part of commenters, and not possibly due to entirely justified concern over the utter lack of experience of our greenhorn coordinators and the HC who chose hope instead of experience and qualifications as a strategy.

I’ve never stopped disliking both OC/DC hires. Monumentally under-qualified

But Bowen is especially bad. Both would never have been hired as coordinators at any G5 program when Pry was hired, let alone at a P5 program. Except of course at our program. Coordinator hires in large measure make or break coaching success and speak to the quality of the HC, his decision making, program management, talent evaluation, etc. In this regard I have little optimism that Pry will be successful because he chose unbelievably unqualified coordinators who were each just 6 years removed from a GA role to be handed the keys to a P5 offense and defense, with neither having ever served as a coordinator anywhere at any level. Compare the OC and DC of Mike Elko’s staff to ours. Night. And. Day. Difference. Their coordinators are seasoned, have significant coordinator experience under multiple coaching staffs, and bring a wealth of experience to the table. Meanwhile we brought in a bunch of greenhorns being paid well over their commensurate value and essentially learning on the job. VT has fallen but we should never accept tolerating inexperienced and under-qualified staff that are learning in the job. Pry should have known better and Whit also failed in not pushing back on the colossal inexperience that Pry was bringing in to key positions. Ugh ** Edited by Exit37 at 9/10/2023, 1:51:45 AM
