After watching Pry run the team, I’m concerned about his ability to run the defense. Whatever he has done in the past at PSU, he’s no Bud Foster…and it’s not even close. I expect us to be 7-5 or 8-4 this year with the team losing in the 4th quarter due to defense. Hope I’m wrong 🥹

I’ll tell you why… he was more interested in Olympic Sports and milked the football cash cow for all it was worth. Now he retires after the worse VT football record in 50+ years. This guy was the AD of the VT athletic department that ran the football program into the ground. Ditto for Sands … he was Whit’s boss. Good grief! 🤯

My opinion is this is most likely associated with the NIL ecosystem… some players rather focus on their next paycheck, rather than risk injury in a tournament no one cares about anymore. 🤔

Shutt getting pushed in the back on a 3-pt attempt with the ref right there 2 ft away and a no call … if he makes 1 out of 3 FT, there is no overtime. Hard to beat anyone in the ACC losing your most prolific starter. CMY, sits Omega man with VT down by 7 and we tie the game. Can’t wait for that guy to go to the NBA … 🙄

We lost the game from the free throw line …,not because we missed too many… we only got to the line 2 times the entire games. Refs need to be fired 🤔

shading Blacksburg. You are welcome to your opinion, of course, but with you it seems personal. I recall, when you were coaching, you said you would never take a job here because it would not be good for your career path. Well, where did your career path end up? If you are not coaching, it’s certainly not because of Blacksburg. Frank Beamer had no problem with getting great players to come here. And Buzz had as much success as anyone but he wanted to go where the grass is greener and hasn’t had as much success since. Finally, Blacksburg did not cause our multiple untimely injuries to starters and certainly is not the reason our so called 1st round draft pick has under performed. If Blacksburg is the problem, why do you even bother to come on this board ? I suspect it’s because you enjoy pounding folks to salt and Will won’t put a stop to it. Stick to X’s and O’s and quit painting Blacksburg as where it would be the place that you would give the world an enema! 🤯

to endure Ricky Stokes before he took over. VT has the longest consecutive home win streak in the history of Virginia college basketball…41 straight. So don’t tell me we can’t win here. My take on this team is we have a lot of really talented players …but they all seem to be role players. We don’t have someone to take over at crunch time. Part of our problem is also key injuries to multiple starters that have disrupted the team’s ability to jell as a unit. Finally, this team most likely has the worst 3 pt shooting average in some time. All in all, I’m disappointed…I had high expectations …these guys do play hard, so we shall see. 🤔

… the game plan was to slash to the basket but UL was effective in neutralizing us… only Bedford was effective by shooting 3s. Coaching staff changed tactics (way too late, IMHO) in the 2nd half and let the 3s fly… fortunately we made a few but defense wasn’t good enough to get the stops we needed. 🤔 ** Edited by VPI63 at 1/24/2026, 4:22:53 PM

IU has 6 starters from JMU. Cignetti does more with less … just what we need. But hey, we still have Whit and Pry … compare Pry with Bud Foster in his prime. And Whit has been at the helm while the VT football 🏈 program turned into a dumpster fire. And I personally haven’t ever seen anything that was great that ever came out of a committee decision. I’m neutral on this hire because we haven’t snapped the ball and I have been bitten by the hype of the last 2 hires. Some on here will celebrate an eight game win season. Not me … we are spending big boy money … we should do better. Win or lose, I’m a Hokie … since 1959. Got my fingers crossed and I hope I can make it long enough to see next season 🤔
