he would be sitting on the bench with a foot/back injury plus the flu πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Grok 4A looks at VT’s portal targets as of 12/20/2025…

Virginia Tech (VT Hokies), under new head coach James Franklin, is in the early stages of targeting players for the 2026 transfer portal window, which opens January 2 and runs through January 16. No incoming commitments have been reported yet, but here's what insiders and reports indicate on targets, offers, and interests (as of December 20, 2025): Quarterbacks (Top Priority) VT needs a starter after Kyron Drones' eligibility expired. - Beau Pribula (Missouri, ex-Penn State): Logical top target due to his history with Franklin (four-star PSU signee; played in 34 games: 66% completion, 2,365 pass yds, 20 TD, 10 INT; 868 rush yds, 16 TD). One year left; entered portal recently. - Josh Hoover (TCU)**: High-profile entrant (No. 12 overall in portal; 9,629 career pass yds, 71 TD; projects as top returning QB). Fits VT's NIL boost ($229M infusion) and upward trajectory. - Others watching: Sam Leavitt (Arizona State), Colton Joseph (Old Dominion). Offensive Line - Tyler Murray (Mercer): All-SoCon IOL/VA native explicitly said he'd be "absolutely interested" if pursued; expected P4 suitors. Tight End - Luke Dehnicke (Minnesota-Duluth)**: Public offer extended. Defense - Unnamed early defensive transfer to monitor. Franklin's Penn State history suggests heavy portal use (deep classes, targeted fits), and VT's new resources position them well, but expect more activity post-opening. Outgoing includes QB Garret Rangel and others like CB Dante Lovett. πŸ€”

I don’t care about the NET…

That may have been one of the best wins ever by the Hokies given the circumstances. 😎

My take ….

Worse defense I have ever seen in 2nd half… the tapes are in… just slash to the basket… get a bucket or get fouled …,no excuse for this against a SC team πŸ™ˆ ** Edited by VPI63 at 12/12/2025, 2:25:23 AM

UVA set up to stop the run…

Because they know drone us not a threat … put in Pop πŸ€” ** Edited by VPI63 at 11/29/2025, 8:36:18 PM

At this point, I hope we don’t get shut out.

I don’t see a path to victory with drones in there…I hope I’m wrong πŸ₯Ή

What I saw...

We have a bunch of greyhounds out there that like to run. That’s when we are at our best. I think CMY is trying to slow them down but I just don’t see any set plays going on. On defense, we can’t seem to stop the slash to the basket. This needs to be addressed. Yet, we still won …. But after these 2 games, I’ve lowered my expectations. The biggest problem is an effective defense. Gurdek is a pleasant surprise… right now I think he brings more to the table than Dorn… in fact, I think he saved our bacon tonight. Lots of talent … hope CMY can fix these problems. πŸ€” ** Edited by VPI63 at 11/19/2025, 10:55:00 PM ** Edited by VPI63 at 11/20/2025, 5:39:15 AM

My hope is/was that …

whatever the new coaches’ contract says, I hope it includes a clause that a lost to ODU means immediate termination with no buyout $. Chesney was my 1st pick but my hope is that I’m wrong and CJF brings VT back to relevance. For me, I’ve always been a wait and see guy, but I’m always watching each and every game awash in my Hokie gear. Let’s go HOKIES!

Probably not … but, I want Chesney…

The adjustments he made at half time during the ODU game sold me. It shows why he’s had a winning record every where he’s coached. πŸ€”

This is my view about posting insider information…

If you know someone that gives you insider information and you post it, you will lose your source and, perhaps, a long term friendship. These things, in most cases, are very sensitive and any leak could upset the apple cart. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes and it’s always a very fluid ecosystem. Deals often fall through at the last minute. Don’t believe anything that you read and only half of what you see. Mark Twain πŸ€”

I think Chesney just got the the VT coaching job today ..

Half time defensive adjustments… we haven’t seen that in a decade. πŸ€” ** Edited by VPI63 at 10/18/2025, 6:37:22 PM

You wrote:

β€œI'm talking about kids that will stick around Blacksburg for their entire college career…” This is the old school thinking… for the best players, they are going to follow the money. Now they will stick around if we can outbid the top competition, but we can’t, even with the $200M over the next 5 years. I’m sorry, but this is the reality today. Somehow putting a cap on NIL will help, but that might be challenged in court. Any new coach/GM/AD will have to deal with these constraints. And what happens when every college decides to increase their commitment by $200M over thr next 5 years πŸ€”

Maybe it’s just me, but …

I think this game would have been a lot closer if the referees had not turned their heads on obvious penalties which were put in the no call bin. It seems if you are ranked in the ACC, the refs have their marching orders. Lastly, that next to last play by drones was a disgusting effort and shows a lack of will to win. That being said, we don’t have a good team as 19 guys were out and inexperienced talent was on the field. πŸ€”
