Where are all the people who said UNCs recruiting wouldn’t matter?
Cuz there are a lot of you who are due for some crow.
The same people who also claimed Fu was doing just fine for years. And usually pretty arrogantly.
Recruiting matters - stars matter - losing in state talent to them matters - and over time it adds up. Even for a program as garbage as UNC.
Pulling for Pry - this is a brutal rebuild.

You’ve got that backwards.
And Evan’s wasn’t an unknown, IIRC he was the #1 Juco QB coming in.
That’s why they spiraled downward after - the trend was clear and awful under the last regime.
No clue yet if Prys the right / better guy, but let’s not for one minute pretend that Fu / Corn somehow ‘made’ Evan’s. Completely the other way around - he masked how bad they really were…

No reference to anyone in particular here, just a general statement.
This is how it works. The nature of the beast. Perform or you have to go. Welcome to life.
Seen many fired from crappy jobs for much less. When you make millions you get a short leash. Part of the deal and no one should expect otherwise.
Now of course college football has talent this to the extreme and will fire and lose millions and spend lots of time energy and resources rebuilding for years on end at the drop of a hat.
There is a balance, and this sport needs to find it.

Yeah I doubt Brown is better, but I would like him to get some reps
Neither are studs, and will make this season challenging - but Wells at least showed some much needed progress in key areas
Still doesn’t have an ounce of touch though, kid can’t seem to comprehend the difference of velocity needed for a 10 yard pass vs 30. Brutal to watch him. But I’m encouraged that he CAN at least throw a nice deep ball, something missing for years - need more of that!
Scary thing is Brown isn’t the starter for a reason, so neither is going to be great. Have to ride it out and coach them up as much as possible until a better QB is brought in.
But it would be VERY wise to get Brown some live game reps when possible - Wofford seems a logical opportunity to do so, 2nd half.

However it happens, I don’t care tonight, just get that W
Making some progress so far from the ODU debacle, so it’s a start - so much still to improve, but right now just HAVE to finish this game and secure a much needed victory for this program and fanbase.

The rest are gonna need jobs, next yr the latest - not like that staff was pains millions every year, and they certainly spent some, they werent living in a shed or driving beaters lol
It’s not nearly as much money as you’re making it out to be. Again only Fu - and my bet is he’s the only one worth a new sub par gig somewhere - he’ll likely get on as an analyst or a low level coordinator. Believe he can call decent game. But a HC at a P5, nope. That ship sailed.
The rest of that staff can kick rocks - let’s not even pretend that they will have all kinds of opps lol - there is no one beating down their doors, not even Fu at this stage. They were garbage and destroyed this program.

Not sure it’s over yet… we’ll see - it could still get worse.
Hoping big lessons are learned from this latest debacle of many, and the staff can slowly start to turn the tide

Always a small few go overboard, but largely this fanbase CARES
And that’s exactly what is SUPPOSED to happen - that’s exactly what we want in a program.
Although the more games like this that intensity is dwindling, and despite what you may think, that is a very bad thing. You want to be UVA? That’s what the result is.
A fanbase that shows zero fire and passion and real desire for their school to find its way and start winning again. One that doesn’t despise losing and being embarrassed, but fully accepts it as ok.
I want this fanbase caring DEEPLY. This program needs it to, it will not survive on lame carefree apathy.
Devils advocate: Ever think maybe you should get a little more passion and fire in your belly instead?

That’s the only play here I can see… VT isn’t going to lead NIL.
So you got talent? Come here and take your place. PT is available to showcase your skills.
(And then we need to play those freshman when it happens.)
Otherwise I’m hard pressed to find any reason to come to VT of you're any level of a stud.

Solid post. Appreciate what I presume is many years of perspective.
This program is in the toilet, and the coaching staff esp Pry unfortunately looked like a combo of deer in headlights and naively excited puppy not realizing it’s getting spanked.
But VT beat themselves more than ODU winning, so gotta learn from the losses and make progress.
I posted last night we are going to learn a LOT in what they show in game 2. That will tell the tale for this season of what we are going to get from this staff and the players - are they smart and in for the hard fight, or just more of the same Fu bar BS…

After the sting and stink, must always learn from a loss.
Will be very curious to see how this staff and team respond and perform in game 2. Going to understand a lot more, good bad or other.
