Posting History (99)

Whit was great with non revenue sports. He was terrible with revenue sports

He elevated track, wrestling, softball, baseball and WBB. Meanwhile, football and MBB went in the crapper.

Avery showed some guts in the bottom of the 6th inning.

Down 6-1 and loaded the bases. She took it on herself and struck out the side. That's guts. Maybe the team got inspired by that in top of 7th. ** Edited by Hokieman1987 at 5/16/2026, 10:53:11 PM

The "wussy" VT is an accurate description of that logo.

I wish we would get rid of it and use our athletic VT as the established logo.

Defensive shout out to Anni

Carly Short hit a hard drive to the hole. Anni managed to get the backhanded short one hopper and throw out the runner. I thought that one was getting through. Great play by Anni Rohs!

Thank you for explaining this.

Spacing while running the half court offense has driven me nuts all season. Yesterday, Oregon showed us how it's supposed to be done.

Good start. Hope we hold him til signing day.

No doubt other schools will try to flip him. At 6'3- 230 do you bulk him up for DT or use him as an edge?

Mazz looked fantastic in Game 1

Most of her misses were around the strike zone. Her control looked much better.

Bree had to be Coach Pete's best kept secret.

Sat out last year and hardly spoken about. She brings an element to the staff we haven't seen in a while. Carrico doesn't throw particularly hard, but she has the best control, speed changes and ball movement while everything hovers in or around the strike zone. Color me impressed.

I wasn't mad.

Last year's team would have gotten blown out. This year's team has grown so much in terms of intestinal fortitude and mental maturity. I can see them getting over the hump from being a good team to a great team next season. If no one leaves, they will be pretty old with some promising newcomers to mentor. It will be interesting to see who CMD harvests from the portal. I'm going to miss Freelon. This team still has an opportunity to win 22 regular season games. That's very impressive for a team coming off a rebuilding year and working an ACC schedule. They did very well beating teams at or below their level with maybe 2 bad losses. The next challenge to get over the hump to greatness by punching above your head. I believe we will see that next season. I trust Coach Duffy to get them there.

Question about Bree Carrico

Man, she really impressed me over the weekend. She was on the team last year but did not play. This year she is listed as a sophomore on the roster. Was she hurt last year and can she request a medical RS after her senior year? Or does she only have 3 years (including this one) eligibility left?

Posters on Le Butterknife are calling for Mox's head.

To their credit, they didn't blame the refs or make excuses. They are focused on getting rid of Mox and blaming her for not making adjustments or having a plan. Some even said that CMD was a better coach. They definitely were not happy with how she conducted her post game media. ** Edited by Hokieman1987 at 2/2/2026, 7:23:04 AM ** Edited by Hokieman1987 at 2/2/2026, 7:23:20 AM

You're right about floor spacing

Especially on Suffren's last steal of the game. What should have been an easy coast to coast got squelched when everyone crowded the paint.

Suffren is in a tough spot.

She is not the facilitator/court general that Mackie is. She is great at the 2. At the 2, she has to play behind the team's leading scorer and inspirational leader. This will likely happen next year as well. As a 6th man, Suffren is just who we need to provide a spark, change the pace and have very little drop off while giving us quality minutes. At the end of the season, she may have to decide whether to start at another school, or continue to be a key component for the Hokies, a pretty good ACC team.

Carillion court appeared bleached out to the point where white unis and

shoes were disappearing into the court. After making some brightness and contrast adjustments on my TV, everything looks normal.

UVA couldn't adapt their guarding to how the game was being called. So

the officials kept blowing their whistles. CMY talks about this all the time in pressers. Ryan Odom didn't make the adjustment. ** Edited by Hokieman1987 at 1/1/2026, 8:38:52 AM

The fix was in. Not that UVA needed it...

Has anyone noticed that the ACC stopped showing the replay control room (for transparency) right around the time the conference championship picture got narrow? Refs also "missed" a block in the back penalty that would have impacted the game. The horse collar PI was just the grossest negligence of officiating. UVA would have won the game honestly. Why be so blatant about it?

Kiffin should have stayed at Ole Miss, built a dynasty and redeemed himself

Instead he's gonna take the coward's way out, fail at LSU and retire on his buyout. He's such a snake.
