Softball transfer portal numbers are up significantly over last year
So far, 652 players in the Portal by 1:00 pm on Day 1 versus only 465 after TWO days last year.

their decision before the end of the season or once they had their season-end talk with Coach Pete. Most want to get their name out there ASAP once the decision has been made. So, I think that's a good indication that no one else is going into the portal. Sophomores who don't see themselves breaking into the lineup by their Junior years are most at risk. So far, knock on wood, we have not had any starters leave for NIL reasons.

Pete is honest and, unless they move to a lower division school, they have a good assessment of their talent and skills WRT PT at VT.
A few, like Legette, are a hair's breadth from starting and find an amenable team.
