So I tried this last year

But I could not break it loose even with a breaker bar. I had a plumber out for a different job and asked them to do it but they couldn’t either. I did start draining the tank annually to flush out the sediment. Never did that the past 20 years.

If you cannot disconnect the duct,

It is easy to cut the flex duct, retrieve the band and then use a splicing collar to reassemble the flex duct using large zip ties and/or mastic.

My “best” obvious snow ride is my 2003 Tahoe Z71

The 98 Ranger made many trips to Snowshoe with no problems so it’s second but the Subaru Outback was surprisingly unstoppable on ice this weekend. Worst - 82 F250 4x2 Worstest- 84 Supra going up Snowshoe while dumping snow was scary.
