5 for 5 and Transfer Portal
Considering how quiet we have been in the Transfer Portal and the likelihood of the 5-for-5 eligibility rules coming into effect, I think it's more and more likely that Robie is looking to move Gaj and Noah up to get them into the lineup next year. Hard to even consider sitting Gaj after his All-American performance last year but 157 is a different animal and much deeper weight class. I went back and watched a few of Sergio's matches and I think he has the frame to successfully move up to 184 and have a better gas tank in the 3rd period vs. last year. Also, Campbell appears to be sticking around and invested in the program even after his injury so he will in be in contention for 2027-28. Bo mentioned in an interview on Flo this week that he sees himself as a permanent 141/65 kg ideal weight for his entire college career which was interesting. Seidel is most likely only going to be able to keep himself at 133 for one more year. Thoughts?

In the interview that hes willing to go whatever weight the coaches think is best at VT. So I think there's some flexibility with Bos ncaa weight.

Assuming no one gets hurt or any other random nonsense.

Unless Noah goes all in on 165 and bulks up

But every one of those guys is a World Champ, NCAA Champ, and/or NCAA All American....I get that Gaj would bump, great situation to have! See what Noah can do as well, maybe he is a 165 guy?

And I really don't think much separates them in terms of talent. 165 might happen out of necessity though.
I wonder if there's a possibility Seidel holds 133 for his career instead of him and Bo bumping. That's about the only way Noah and Gaj both fit in the lineup long term imo. I would think that's a decision you make one year at a time.

I think Bassett 141 freshman year then career 149 after that. Noah or Gaj bulk to 157 and Melvin bulks to 165 for the future IMO. Some really really good kids are gonna be left out it sounds like.

And maybe even the intention. He definitely looks big. But if he doesn't get any bigger and goes and wins a title, you would think it will at least get discussed. I like Bo at 149 a lot, but 141 is better for his Olympic aspirations too

Either one should work for him to be able to make 65kg. I'm sure the plan is one year at 133/141 but like you mentioned if they both win a title you may not want to mess with it

Not sure where you put him, he is competing with Seidel & Bo at 141/149 for the forseeable future. Don't see a spot for Weader either and I love his style.
