An interesting Wrestlestat observation
They have CG redshirting at 165…

He definitely isn’t 65 guy next year

He might take the Yates path from 149 to 165. I don’t remember the exact sequence there though. Similar builds and chippiness though.

brutal weight cuts any of VT's wrestlers have ever made

It'll be a few months before anything like that can be interpreted.

It’s interesting data during the lull in action while in the off season
I assume there is some degree of accuracy though. It’s doubtful wrestlestat is arbitrarily plugging in guesses but getting information from coaches, might be wrong though

Also think it's been updated to show CG at 149 redshirting

Everybody is talking about next year, but after that? 141 makes the most sense for Bo from an Olympics standpoint, and would let Gaj and Nininger get into the lineup together at 149 and 157. Earlier in the season, I was of the opinion that we needed to get DC and Seidel into the lineup, but Gaj's season might sway it the other way where he needs to be in there.
The Wrestlestat this isn't really anything to go off of, but you would want to start working Gaj towards 157 if the bump was inevitable imo.

DC sitting for a year and getting back in at 33 would be great. Not sure how to squeeze Nininger in there. I'd guess he has to beat out Gaj.

After this upcoming season is over, MM will be in the mix and most likely at 157 initially. Then, either CG or NN will likely have to bump to 165. Regardless where CG shirts now, he’ll either have to beat out MM at 157 or bump to 165 after his shirt.

And you slot Gaj and Nininger back to back at 149/157. Depends on who can hold what weight, and who is a bigger asset to the lineup- DC or the loser of Noah/Gaj.

Which puts Campbell at 33. Now we need to find room for Gorman and Nininger

Want the spot? Go beat the guy that has it. I wouldn't rule Noah out.

the recruitment and commitment of Bassett and Miller. Essentially provides a crowded house from 141 to 165. Most of the time these work out but not sure this one will. There are potentially 7 high class wrestlers (Campbell, Seidel, Gorman, Basset, Gaj, Miller, and Nininger) for 5 weight classes (133 through 165).
Of course, there are sometimes mitigating factors (injuries, academic issues, portal transfers) that result in the numbers working out. We shall see.
