What about Kim Caldwell from Marshall?
Her head coaching record is impressive:
191-24 at D2 Glenville State
68-4 her final two years with a national title and another final four appearance
26-7 in her first year at MU after starting 2-4
Won Sun Belt w a 17-1 record and won the tourney
(Marshall was a .500 team the season before)
Her pressure D, run and gun style of play would be attractive to recruits , and to the fans, which will be needed after the letdown from Brooks.
Cons: only one year of D1 experience, most recruiting ties are apparently to the Ohio Valley

Think we can demand someone much better. Whit is really good at hiring coaches. He missed with Fu, but Pry is on the right track, Buzz, Young and Brooks all took us to new heights as has our softball, wrestling and baseball coaches. Keep the faith.

That system would get VT a ton of press because of how different it is, it’s also not reliant on one or two great players which pretty much every good womens team is.
Once Caitlin Clark is gone women’s basketballs will go back to where it was, to stand out you gotta be different.

The games somehow seem to mean more to the players, and it seems like a purer version. The lack of money in the wnba makes motivation somewhat different. Unfortunately, the transfer portal, NIL and coaches' salaries are probably going to kill it.

You could replace her with Steph Curry and many people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference, she’s that much better than everyone else. What makes her fun to watch is she plays like a guy, which IMO is something that casual viewers are interested in.
Compare that to how school like SCAR, LSU, Stanford, etc play. Those schools play like traditional WBB programs, get the biggest players and win physically.
Players like Hidalgo are really tough to watch because of how bad women’s refereeing is.

From a watchability perspective.
Caitlin’s passing is more fun to watch than her 30ft jumpers, but both are things we’ve never seen in the women’s game before. She’s a triple double machine and has averaged 8+ assists and rebounds across her career.
Every player you named is just a good scorer, no different than womens greats of the past who never pulled eyeballs to tv sets.

. . . I'm not sure that style of play would appeal to elite players. Subbing out every two to three minutes? I see it as the basketball equivalent to the Paul Johnson offense at GT. It allows you some success with players that other's might not recruit but there's a hard ceiling that you can't past.

What she was doing was trying to maximize effort every second with a group that bought in because many of them wouldn’t be playing D1 without her offer
You can still do that subbing out say every 4-5 minutes instead of every dead ball
If you can sell that with plenty of possessions, many talented players could average double digits playing together, I think it could work and would be a nightmare to prepare for during the short timeframes between conference games
