Man, this team just needs to play smarter. Too many TOs and mental errors.
But they got a win and they have talent. I want to see Baker continue to put up Numbers like this. Sure would be nice to see Peterson get going. Feels like she regressed. Need more production from 1 more person not named Carleigh. She’s doing her thing, although not tonight.

@David Cunningham do we have average attendance for WBB this year?
The crowd sizes have not come across TV broadcasts very well. I was expecting much more support from the fan base with Rutgers than the previous mid-major opponents.
Obviously, I don’t expect crowds as big as the last two years but should be better than what it is. And I sense that CMD is disappointed about it.

CMY may not be too far off from the realization that Bennett came to.
He is on record as saying he does not like where the game has gone and it wouldn't surprise me if his "fire" to continue to coach the game is extinguished.

NCAA WBB Portal is interesting
There are a ton of Guards in the portal but not many productive Forwards or Centers out there. Thinking the 2024 Hokies will look a whole lot different than what we've been used to with bigs, etc. CMD has emphasized versatiity as a style....which to me means a little smaller than we've been. Plus...there's just not that many 6-5 /6-6 female ball players out there.

Gotta day. Comparing Kim Caldwell at UTs presser to CMDs. No comparison.
UTs was about 10 minutes long with Caldwell talking for 5 min and 5 min of questions. She seemed nervous and anxious almost like she wasn’t sure she should be there.
Conversely, CMD owned it and just smashed the 30 min presser has great comments / answers etc. better hire IMO. Caldwell needs more seasoning.

If you are Niele Ivey at ND do you stay or look for SEC job? UT? VT....
That has ramifications for VT. If Niele Ivey leaves ND, wouldn't Duffy be a candidate for HC at her school? Ugh.
Hate to bring this up and create future problems on this exciting day, but it's crossed my mind.

It's widely speculated that Lindsey Edmonds is a front runner
all over this board and people have given a thumbs up so far from what I can tell. BUT....VT is not the only school looking for a coach. Miami is looking too in the ACC....not guarantees we get her even if we want her. Hope Whit has a good "list" because IMO this search is moving WAY TO SLOW for retention, hiring, NIL, etc.

This my thoughts exactly. It’s BS.
I think he was worried about living up to his own legacy and not meeting expectations now that Liz and Amoore are gone. I’ve never known a competitor to shy away from success or a business person who wasn’t proud of what they built and wanted to see it sustained.
Feels cowardly right now. I don't believe the narrative.

"best of the best" is what I hear folks saying. But how many time did CKB
say to the media that the ACC was the best WBB conference in the country? So....he's leaving the best conference to go to the SEC for more $$, NIL and Facilities? As a competitor, that does not sound right to me.
Something is not adding up in this story. There is more to it than this.

would really hate to Georgia in a UK uni next year. that would hurt!
An NIL deal for her next year with SEC money would likely be more than a WNBA deal she could sign.

@CC - Good article and perspective...But
I disagree with you on one thing.
Yes, it's just another coach at another school.
But for the fan who invests in the team / players esp the community that Liz, Georgia, CKB talk alot about in their pressers....there is collateral damage. Collateral damage as fans feeling it's all lip service from a coach that just wants to put fannies in seats. Collateral damage in recruits that are not in BBurg yet, and collateral damage to the current players on the roster...who will likely pack up and head out...leaving the program / new coach to start all over again at step 1, when you have committed players. SUCKS.

Sorry, but Brooks ain't no Pat Summit, Geno A., Dawn Staley or Kim Mulkey.
Not even close. I realize Pat's not with us any longer, but for heaven sakes, what has Kenny proven other than build a progam and 1 final 4 team with 2 all-Americans...and came up short. No National Titles!

I get that the ACC is in Limbo. But why leave for the SEC?
I don't really understand the move. Yes, UK might have their own facility....but what does that matter? Was he able to build an elite program here...yes. Does he not see an opportunity to win here again? Why? What would be the hurdle? Not buying the NIL money issue either. I realize FB has to garnerd alot of the focus, but we had enough $$ to go to Greece, Bahamas, pay two all-American's, fly all over the world to recruit a few foreign players etc. Is a bump in salary (which I think VT could have been competitve with) not sufficient enough? having a facility for WBB that important? I guess so in the ever running Arms-race that is facilities.
When i look for a job, i look for culture, boss, $$, benefits. I'll build my own team the way i want to...that's not an issue for me.

Yes. and I thought he got outcoached by Baylor. IMO.
The offensive sets that were run were ridiculous, esp in 2nd half when we had the inside presence that could have dominated. Amoore was also off....which means do something different.
He did nothing on defense to stop the guard play of Baylor, which was really poor judgement.
I'm not sure if Brooks is a good coach or not...but he had elite talent so it worked for us over the past 4 / 5 years.
Him leaving is such a gut punch!
