Who are the others?
I
I love VT!
Alyssa Thomas, Alana Beard, David Thompson, Ralph Sampson.

David Thompson was the best basketball player I ever saw. Drugs did him in

Thompson was Michael Jordan before Michael Jordan
It's a shame that's he almost completely forgotten now. If you asked 100 NBA fans under 30, I'd be surprised if 10 knew who he was.

Could swipe a quarter off the top of the backboard, and leave change

Ralph was a freak also.

Liz has success written all over her.
She has intellect, self- discipline, and personality. All of us are upset over her injury but in the long run it will matter little. In fact if she were still planning on medical school as was said a year ago as a retired physician with a physician daughter that entered medical school >30 my advice to her would be use this injury to reconsider basketball and enter med school (no doubt she is qualified) especially if she wants children.

She could do both, she probably needs to keep studying while in the WNBA,
but I doubt that’s problem for her. She could even go the Sports Medicine track, her experience would be a great addition, and keep her involved in something she clearly loves.

Another successful doctor from the ACC
is Georgia Schweitzer Beasley from Duke. (97-01). She was ACC player of the year twice and then played in the WNBA for three seasons, leaving to attend med school. She is now a surgical oncologist.

Perfect example Hokie83, of what I was talking about.

Crossed my mind, too. I bet she'd be a great pediatrician.

One of our best from 1999 Amy Wetzel went that route

Taylor Emery did vet school at VT instead of playing pro ball overseas
She was 2nd-team all ACC and VT's leading scorer before the Sheppard/Kitley/Amoore era
