Interesting the the head of the section committee was from Clemson
The Associate AD for Clemson was the chair, and she is the one who threw so much shade against VT program and 'remoteness'... she is from clemson. really???/
Sounds like clemson leadership a little rougue as well.

Same situation
She did not throw shade at VT.
That is misconstruing everything she said

outside the 45 min window for hotel travel
She said the 3 hotels were 50 min…I have to wonder which ones. If I had to guess it’s the ones around Tanglewood in Roanoke. Hotel Roanoke is 44 min.so that would fit as would the Hampton Inn downtown Roanoke. Otherwise the only other hotels I can think of at 50 min away would be Troutville or potentially Princeton WV & those are likely out due to extra time away from Roa airport
What I believe was a lie was her claiming it had no impact on seeding us 17th. If not, why bring it up and just say we’re 17 & why? No. They ignored DSR? They ignored top 25 win %? No they used the bid denial as an easy “out”

She was asked persistently by several media types which the media types implying that it would be a reason. She consistently said that it was not why VT was the 17th seed. Whether or not you believe her or the committee is one thing. But she didn't just bring it up
Chip told us that DSR was just informational and not a driver.
And note that the hotels can't be small-time hotels. They have to be nice hotels.. In addition, the have to be priced within a reasonable range (below $200 a room I believe) and, with graduation weekend, what hotels are going to reduce from $500 to below $200. And for people who say that the Administration should hold hotels for a year, that is a lot of money on the chance you host. And parents are also booking a year in advance.
This is becoming silly, when the main reasons are geography and timing.
That is, of course, your opinion.

The committee changed the rules during the process that had been agreed upon beforehand…1 they didn’t give equal weighting or consideration to KPI & DSR which they were supposed to consider as much as RPI not favoring one over the others. She changed that, they changed to the quadrant seeding which was too much extra to add to confusion.
Committee members lie. They say whatever they can to get media off their backs. If you don’t know that you’ve either not followed NCAA Committees over the years or are naive. The chair person just is the mouthpiece who covers their butts for their questionable decisions. The UCLA over FSU seeding was not defensible logically because they were so close but FSU won head to head and had 2 concert titles

No one. Chip told the board a bit ago that they were not likely to be used for anything other than information. We all assumed they would be used because they were deemed better metrics. She changed that all by herself? No.
She did mention it because the video call consisted of Virginia Tech media types. I was on the call I know how it went. I know who asked the question about it or different angles about it several times. I know there were persistent questions that all probed whether or not it was a factor in the seeding. Maybe it helps for sanity purposes that many people, including analysts here, understand it.
I know people lie, including mouthpieces, bBut thanks for that. People also knee-jerkedly react without facts.

Then she changes and says they will look at RPI but look deeper if there were significant differences between DSR, KPI & RPI. I listened to the interview…Eric Lopez the perfect bracket picker acknowledged after the interview he was surprised (and sounded disappointed) that they had backtracked on how they were looking at the newer metrics
In other words they went back to leaning on RPI…which as we know strongly favored SEC teams outside of the top 10 in relation to comparing DSR vs RPI (we were higher than MsSt, A&M & LSU in DSR but lower in RPI

Per the Roanoke Times story on Friday that quoted VT's Chris Helms
"Helms submitted a hosting bid for Tech Softball Park featuring the hotel in Roanoke, the one in Wytheville and one in Princeton."
They also considered moving the Regional to the Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, but that didn't help with the hotel room issue.
"Helms also pitched the NCAA the idea of putting the three visiting teams in Radford dorms.
"They were essentially dorm rooms, but they were nice enough," Helms said. "Each room had its own bathroom. There was meeting space. Catering opportunities. … And within the radius. But that was the only (hard) no. There must have been another championship … where I think they allowed something like (dorms) and it went wrong."

will be again for the next several weeks. Those rooms are actually in the hotel closest to Blacksburg from Princeton.

We went to grad school together and friends ever since. Her dad was a long time football coach with experience in the SEC and ACC before retiring. VT would be lucky to have her in their administration is all I can say.
