Well I never saw that coming
I’m not shocked at the loss, but never thought we would get shut out and run-ruled.
Let’s see what happens in three hours.

. . . days. VT is a good team but our expectations may have skewed by the playing some pretty average teams the last two months of the season.

I kid of course... but VT hasn't historically excelled in the postseason. Softball and baseball are slim-margin sports, meaning a few walks, a few timely hits, a few unfortunate line-outs, or double plays can be the difference between a close game and a game that gets out of hand.
Pitching usually wins games. While our pitching is very good, it's not quite as elite as previous years with Rochard and Lemley. Our batting, which is as solid as ever, is still always at risk of facing a pitcher who hits their spots and keeps the batters guessing.
Lastly - I think any surprise of a run rule is a reflection of how well we did during the regular season. This was bound to happen at some point - and we ran into a hot LSU team.
We're good enough to win this series. Let's see what happens.

They did not appear confident at all, right from the get go.
It honestly felt to me like the crowd got to them.
I’m with you Chip, would never have predicted this outcome. I thought we’d beat them, or if we lost it would be by 1 or 2 runs late.

LSU is an awful venue to play in .. we just don’t win down there and Athens would have been a lot better chance … that being said we aren’t dead yet but a butt whipping like that is hard to shake….we got the shaft
