Softball had an AWESOME night at the Gobblers tonight
The Gobblers is an annual award night for VT athletes - kind of a ESPY award night for Hokies.
Virginia Tech Softball was honored with a number of awards.

Does the softball team have a student trainer assigned?
I know the women's basketball team used too. My daughter was a student trainer for the women's basketball team, 95-96, 96-97, 97-98. Her Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years. She was a busy young lady her sophomore & Junior years, because she was also a Color Guard for the Marching Virginians her Freshmen, Sophomore, and Junior years.
Also, is this when the athletes, who have earned them, get their letters?

I’m not 100% sure on the student trainer question. I have seen a young lady hanging out with Kristen Mathis, our primary trainer..
Your daughter certainly had a full plate. Congratulations to her.

I’m not sure all the specifics and details of each award. I just saw the posts on Instagram and was excited to share and celebrate.
I do know these are great accomplishments for each winner and I know the team is happy and proud of their teammates. I’m especially glad that the team earned the bye in the ACCT and was able to attend and celebrate together.
Let’s just share the joy and congratulate the players and parents when you see them.
They rock!

It’s just curiosity. The attribute that drives innovation and scientific discovery.
There is nothing wrong with the way they do it. It just seems odd that they would need a full season to give one performance award but not another.
So, if Jordan Lynch had transferred after her freshman year, would they still give her the award this year? If Bree transfers she will already have hers.
I am pretty sure they have thought this through and have a good reason. People are just wondering what the thought was.
Goodness knows we have discussed more trivial things on here.
If Chip tires of addressing questions or doesn’t know the specific rationale, he can always ignore them.

The Golden Gobbler is an honor for two student-athletes (one man and one woman) that have excelled in competition, in the classroom and in serving others, and embody the true definition of a Hokie.
