The Mazz hate is harsh to me. She has been really good this year even with
the walks. People acting like she has been struggling for weeks. She pitched a hell of a series at UVa, even the Friday game she literally had one bad pitch, the Sunday game she was lights out. Then she held GT to 1 run in the Friday game. The sunday game was tough for her and so was today but geeze she has been unhittable at times this year. Yes, she has some days where her control is off but more often than not she has it down pretty good and the days she has everything clicking she is elite.

Im not saying people cannot have opinions but Mazz seems to get a lot of
hate for someone who has been bear elite ar times.

She’s been excellent. Even the best have off days/weeks. Look at TN

I'd rather have her than not have her..
What would our record be without her? Haters gonna hate.

She’s our #1 pitcher, good game or bad game. She’s been the workhorse
carrying the load all season. Pete started her against every good team we played. Every pitcher on the roster has came out and gotten smoked by a team.

It's not even "bad game", it's like one inning when she takes a loss.
Duke loss is an example and our hitting taking the day off didn't counter the one bad inning.

Agree. For all we know she might be injured and gutting it out.
Some days pitchers just don't have it, from Little League to the majors. I'D like to see Mazz throw a no hitter every start, but as much as I would love to see that, its not going to happen. Mazz will come around. She is a Hokie, and a great pitcher, and I support her. GO Hokies, go Mazz.

Agree. We would not have won 40 softball games without her
She is 12-4 this year with a 3.19 ERA and 139 strikeouts in 107.2 innings. In ACC play, the Hokies have won 14 games, and she has been the winning pitcher in half of them (7 wins). Yep, there are certainly times that she has struggled with her control - she would be the first to say that - but she gives 110% every time she walks to that circle.

I think she should embrace the wild pitching and come out full
Ricky "The Wild Thing" Vaughan, glasses and all with the song blaring across the stadium.

Mass has always been a great pitcher.
She will hit the glove 10 times in a row and then hum one to the back stop. Great pitcher though. She did a podcast about this back in February. She needs to remind herself to pump the brakes sometimes to paraphrase what she said. ** Edited by philvt93 at 4/25/2026, 10:33:13 PM
