the home plate umpire was squeezing her. Especially in the 6th inning. What looked to be clear strikes were called balls. I know she was upset but you couldn't tell. Many pitchers would have folded but she bore down and finished the job.

When she finally smiled walking off the mound after the 6th (?) inning, I just about fell of my chair, haha.

and batters are swinging at them. She's never too far off the plate. After her first inning of the season (where she was obviously rusty from over a year layoff), her location has been stellar.

. . . her 'misses' are almost always near the zone. It's the opposite of Mazz who often misses so far out of the zone that they are true 'waste' pitches . . . . it's a waste to throw them. She also can come inside fairly well without hitting batters. Throwing inside effectively adds 2 - 3 mph to a pitch in that it reduces the batters reaction time; they have to start a bit earlier to hit it. Overall, on the pitcher/thrower continuum she's the most effective 'pitcher' we've had since Rochard. It's still early so we'll see how she fairs as teams (particularly in conference) get more film and multiple looks at her. ** Edited by MidloHokie at 2/28/2026, 11:14:58 AM

Our others miss too big. Sometimes having wild pitches.

First college game, at South Carolina, yep, you're not in high school anymore But after that first inning, she settled down and has been an awesome surprise

But in the meantime, we can just enjoy today and hope to get a few more wins :)
