Scholarships
I’ve read some recent posts implying VT is going to offer 20 full scholarships for softball, and 30 for baseball. I find that hard to believe, but what are informed thoughts?

Sorry, I may have confused some
I’m fully aware that baseball probably needs more because of the pitching situation. I’m just inquiring about the number of full scholarships being increased to those numbers. That would be a huge increase for both sports, if true. I think Clemson and UNC have said they will fully fund softball, which would be 24 full scholarships.

I'm all for Cheat wasting those softball schollies.

There are more team members on baseball primarily due to
the number of pitchers on the teams. Baseball usually has around 20 pitchers while softball usually only has three to seven.

Yup, I'd think it's mostly a pitching staff thing as opposed to a gender
thing.

The truth is I suspect many of college coaches are fine with roster . . .
. . . sizes of around 20.

Baseball requires loads of pitchers.

Softball starting pitchers can pitch each day but baseball starters every
5th day.

Agree however scholarships aren't the end of recruiting any more.
Are we going to see any programs where the rosters will be reduced, on purpose. Nobody needs 100+ on a football roster so why spend the money for 100+. We have softball players leaving for playing time only to be replaced by players, freshman and older, who are looking for playing time. That's not solving any problem. Maybe football expenditure equal for 100 players if made for only 70 players VT could make a difference?
