Can anyone explain why Liberty's runner not called out at 3B? She was
tagged out right? Please don't say it was due to illegal pitch?

Political based on WHO WE’RE FACING. Think about it…these umps are into the sport and obviously know Alameda and Dot Richardson as legendary figures in the sport. When they get in the umps’ ears, who do you think they’ll favor? Richardson and Alameda or Gillis and Pete??
That right there may be your answer for today and Sunday’s issues

As I do vent nervous energy and angst here, but I’ve also been around enough to know how the sports world’s politics work

The throw was CLEARLY ahead of the runner..it cannot be called obstruction, by the rules, can it? I think Chip you already answered that question with the mad red face emoji ( i don't know how to reciprocate that lol)

Please don't ask me to defend the call as that is simply impossible...lol

The total number of calls, situations etc in which we were called for a “violation†that were judgement calls by umps ?

Just got home from Lynchburg so haven't reviewed my notes or looked at the game video.
Off of the top of my head:
Illegal pitch calls on Emma - 9
No illegal pitch calls on Kirby - she threw 90 pitches and was airborne on a TON of them
The obstruction call on Bree at third base

The tag definitely beat the runner. The tag was made. If an illegal pitch was called, I don't know if runners can advance without libality to be put out.
Anyone else have an answer?

Sounds like a missed call. Junior was at 3rd, correct?

If I recall correctly....let's just say this...it WASN'T one of those quick throws to 1st that are iffy. She had the ball in hand and 'made a softball move' (to invoke the stupid NFL rule jargon) for a full second or half second before contact.
I thought during the game it was disallowed becuase of illegal pitch - but now hearing it was not?? That's some serious shady **** IMHO...and now concerned more because I thought this would be a straight up game because of Dot and her pedigree...now I don't know what to believe...
Seriously feeling like 'us against the world'...

I think they got the base if it was IP....not a rules expert..and wouldn't surprise me if the blue got it wrong anyway..

If it was a rules interpretation, Pete would have gone to another ump. My guess is he ruled something else, not related to the IP
