Well - PCSA going to Senate floor
It passed the committee 19-9. Question: What if the NFL "creates" a minor-league that come from a certain number of college football teams that could be led not by the college (i.e. Hokie Ventures), and they pull those teams under their anti-trust and then the NFL could get the TV/broadcast revenue for those teams so it would secure keeping their pipeline? Maybe the NBA does the same? WNBA?

between the P2, the ACC/B12 and to a lesser extent the rest of D1. Congressional votes will more or less just mirror those constituencies . The P2 will ultimately support legislation but it is in their best interest to slow play because 1) they want to claw back a more favorable deal then presently proposed and 2) they might as well enjoy the lion's share of the existing "structure" as long as they can.

they will get a restraining order and sue for the next hundred years. They will never voluntarily agree to share the wealth, nor should they. If the supporters of this bill fail to grab the P2's money, will they still think it is, at least, fair to pool their money with all NCAA conferences, including Div 3? This will test whether they really believe in revenue pooling, or if they are simply envious of the success of their superiors.

They grabbed the biggest brands from the conferences. Sports are healthier when the media money is distributed, regardless of brand or market size. Yankees were running the MLB into the ground until they agreed to a luxury tax. Yankees revenue increased as MLB is in a better place. Hockey, the same way. They didn't play for a year while sorting it out. Now it is way better.

You see this all as P2 vs other conferences. Sure that is part of it, protecting their inherent advantage. But even more so this really is about reforming the relationship between all conferences vs. players.
It is about making the cost of doing business less and making the industry more stable . Hell even in The Godfather the Five Famalies made peace from time to time for the sake of bidness.
The P2 arent against legislation passing, they just want it to be as favorable to them as possible. The Wild Wild West isnt in anyones interest other then the players. View this more as a Labor dispute and less as an antitrust issue. The P2 doesn't need to run the ACC and B12 out of business to succeed.

the P2 advantage. It was earned over time. Pooling media money doesn't solve labor issues or anything else. It simply redistributes money. Should MIT and Johns Hopkins pool their research grants with Boise, etc.?

And all it does is allow conferences to do so without breaking laws, it isnt an edict to require it. The legislation is MUCH more about reigning eligibility and providing structure to portal and nil.

Their advantages over time. Not the conferences.

That’s very interesting. Assuming that those are not empty words as part of a social media post, I want to know what he means.
Why can the current state not continue? What would happen?
For all the talk about how much things need to change, what is the actual outcome if nothing changes?
The sport is not going to collapse if players continue to get paid. Or if the P1 happens. Or if the acc or sec expanded. The more that people talk about this bill, the less clear it is for me about who it is supposed to help.

from one broadcasting agreement. Their power dwarfs the SEC and B1G, in fact their power dwarfs most if not all of sports combined.
PS ND would join and still say they are independent. Got to keep that big donor money coming in! :-)

Any conference with $700M cannot increase the number of its members.
The ACC is already over $700M. The B12 should be there for 2025-26.
If the bill is passed, the P2 and M2 (Acc, B12) cannot expand. I think they can still backfill if their members leave voluntarily or involuntarily.

It doesn't stop private equity in getting schools together in a new conference - exactly what Cody Campbell wanted.
