Miami gets an ACC team in the semis.
There shouldn't be any further debate about Miami deserving a spot. Good for Miami.

Anybody than Ohio State, and obviously Miami deserved
to be in the playoffs - but I wouldn't read into it too far in that they are a better team than ND at this point in the season. We will never know however, because of the way things played out. As an Indiana fan, out here in Pasadena, I think it's more that Ohio State was over rated. Except for their win over an over ranked Texas, who have they beat this year? You guys complain about the ND schedule, but no one complains about the OSU schedule. Go Cains, as it IS important that the ACC - and B!@ actually win games, otherwise the BIG and SEC will continue to dominate.

Agreed - pulling for TT today as well
Definitely want both the ACC and B12 to represent well.

I would have liked to see a TT v Miami championship game…
but it’s not meant to be. I guess I’m pulling for Miami to win it all now and could care less which SEC or Big Ten school is there to play them. That said, how gross is it to root for scUM? I need to eat some soap. I would have pulled for TT over Miami had they played. I don’t particularly pull for most ACC schools outside of Tech of course, Clemson, NCSU and begrudgingly GT, Pitt, SU and BC

We should want ALL the upper division ACC schools to step up
and of course that starts with us. I would put NCSU and Thug U in that mix over CU and F$U because of the lawsuit fallout. Still, more programs stepping up is what the ACC needs for compelling TV matchups, CFP and bowl participation, league stability and so many other reasons.

OSU played that vaunted B1G schedule.
The one that FOX pays a fortune to put on TV. It is like that most years. OSU broke through last year, but they benefit from super high pre-season polling, and get protected with that schedule most years.

OK, I have to pick on you a bit here…
Miami had the 3rd weakest regular season schedule in the ACC (15th out of 17 reams) with their opponent’s winning percentage at .479 compared to Duke's opponent’s ,611 and Tech’s opponent’s .639 (Tech had the strongest ACC schedule FWIW but we still would have stunk with Miami’s weak schedule). Only Cal and Clemson had weaker schedules than Miami in the ACC. Had UVa beaten Duke in the ACCCG, many could be saying the same about UVa’s weak regular season schedule as the #10 seed in the CFP. UVa’s regular season opponent’s winning percentage was .493 which was 13th in the ACC. Only GT, Miami, Cal and Clemson had weaker schedules. Miami still deserves to be there and UVa would have too if they beat Duke. BTW OSU had a .528 opponent’s record and played #13 Texas and #18 Michigan as their only 2 top 25 opponents not counting #1 Indiana in the B10CG. Miami played only #11 Notre Dame as their only top 25 opponent. UVa played zero top 25 opponents as reflected in the final ranking but will note that FSU and Louisville were ranked at the time UVa played them. ND who pleaded that they should be in the CFP had a ,521 opponent’s winning percentage and played #7 aTm, #10 Miami and #16 USC. So I wouldn’t cast too many stones at OSU given the facts presented ** Edited by Calamitous at 1/1/2026, 8:47:05 PM ** Edited by Calamitous at 1/1/2026, 9:01:38 PM

Miami beat ND "head to head," so they deserved to be in the playoff.
Did ND deserve to be in the playoff over Alabama? That's what we'll never know, and frankly I don't care they were left out after America saw how far they had their nose buried up the SEC's butt. The SEC told ND, "if you blame the ACC for being left out instead of the SEC, we'll make sure you have a far easier path into the playoff next year." They did, and they're getting it.

You're really not in a position.....
with your original delusional and completely biased statement that BYU was the one that got screwed. You are entitled to your opinions but, those opinions do have a bearing on your credibility and position to judge who may or may not be deserving. You double down with your typical Big 12 BS with the comment about SMU last year who was actually no more or no less deserving than TT this year.
B

The nonsensical ramblings of a lunatic mind. I was
basing my "opinion" on the polls my friend, and the won loss records. At least SMU got into the championship game last year, but if you base it on "head to head", BYU beat SMU last year, and had the same record. So from where I'm sitting, BYU got screwed two years in a row. It's off to Atlanta now, as this IU run is fun as hell.

The fact you can even......
type with a straight face that "BYU got screwed two years in a row" says it all. Are you going to be changing your screen name to Big 10/Big 12 guy now? Indiana is a good team and well deserving of their accolades. The rematch with the Ducks should be interesting.

Grew up in Indiana, so ya, I'm an IU fan. My sister
went there, and I attended a school in the Boston area that does not have a football team. I can be a fan of who ever the hell I want too. BTW, that also makes me a ND fan, as my Highschool in Indy were the Fighting Irish. Living in Big East country (loved that conference), then living in ACC country (charlotte) for about 12 years, and now in The KC area where my lovely wife is a devout KU fan, kinda gives me a unique perspective, as i have been a college hoops and football fan my entire life. Went to the BIG championship game with my sister - booked the Rose Bowl as a bucket list game long before I know who was going to play in it. Was going to go cheer for Miami, but got a call from my sister, and Atlanta it is. Man, having a blast. Expensive, but fun as hell. Can't wait to experience Lane, as maybe with the new coach, that environment can rise up to where I remember. Maybe you should engage posters rather than trying to discredit them, but apparently that isn't your MO. Carry on Mr. 25 years.

Oregon was winning 48-13 mid way through the 3rd quarter…
and called off the dogs to keep their players healthy for the game that mattered. JMU’s 21 points late in the 3rd and 4th quarters were true trash points. If that were a regular season game, Oregon would have wanted more style points and hit 70+ on them. Oregon came prepared today and had a nice practice game against a JMU team who didn’t belong there. If JMU played Texas Tech, they would have gotten worked there too. Texas Tech belonged. ND belonged. BYU belonged. Alabama was the outlier but can see where they could have been the 12th seed. JMU and Tulane did not belong. JMU’s one loss was to a middle of the pack ACC school in Louisville. Yes I get it, JMU could have beaten Virginia Tech given the opportunity but they would have been 7-5 or 8-4 at best in the ACC even with UVa’s easy schedule. Tulane was crushed by Ole Miss (regular season) and crushed by UTSA but did beat the ACC champs but they didn’t deserve to be there either. Bama or Vandy were deserving of the 12th spot but would give the nod to Bama since they beat Vandy head-to-head. Had UVa won the ACCCG, both Alabama and Vandy should have been left out with UVa as the #12. It would have been gross too especially since they played the weakest possible ACC schedule that the conference had to offer. But a 11-2 UVa Power conference champion should have gotten in over Bama or Vandy. Unfortunately the CFP has the “everybody gets a trophy clause” thus a few trashcan programs get to sneak in every year. I was OK with Boise State getting in last year but it turned out they weren’t at the CFP level. ** Edited by Calamitous at 1/1/2026, 6:40:53 PM

Am I the only person that thinks nobody was screwed?
The way the system was set up, every bid that was given was correct. Even Bama. ND lost to both aTm and Miami, they didn’t deserve to get in. BYU lost to TT twice by lopsided results. Bama actually beat UGA once. That was the difference between BYU, ND, Miami and Bama. All of them had warts, but Bama actually beat somebody. Miami actually beat somebody. It creates arguments because the system is clearly not effective enough. But the teams that got in were correct under the system we have. Tulane and JMU had no business being in over ND, BYU or Vanderbilt. But because the way the system was set up, they absolutely should have been included because they both were more deserving than Duke. The system itself is nonsensical, but it worked the way it was set up. 🤷‍♂️ Florida State got screwed a couple years ago. Winning a conference title game to go 13-0 and get jumped by two 1-loss teams? No, that’s not right. BYU, getting crushed for the second time by a Top 10 team? They didn’t deserve a bid. ND beating nobody, but thinking it deserved to get in? Nope…
B
Big12 guy
7mo
That is fair, as BYU did have a chance to play in, and lost. Having a ND,
Miami championship game would have solved the problem as well, but that will never happen. My biggest beef is that a 3 loss team got in when there are many other worthy schools that did not, and the polls are biased IMO. The larger the playoff field, the better. Let them settle this stuff on the field.

Well, let’s kick out Oregon, Ole Miss, Oklahoma and aTm also.
Cmon, I respect you, but you gotta lay down the B12 banner on this one. BYU didn’t deserve a spot over Miami. Nor did they deserve a spot over Bama. BYU beat nobody that mattered and got crushed twice by the one team they played that did matter.

If the season had ended without championship games, BYU would
be in over Miami. going by the rankings, not the conference. BTW, skipped the parade today as it is pouring rain, but will be there cheering on IU in a few hours. Also decided to continue on down to see Miami in the Fiesta Bowl - the tickets are falling in price, and while it wasn't on my itinerary, I drove, so can do whatever I want. I will be cheering for the ACC team hands down.

Look, the way the rankings are released is also a set up.
The selection committee knows these teams have more games to play and who they are going to play. They absolutely factor that into their rankings. When they bumped Miami one spot below ND it was guaranteed that Miami would jump ND when the final selections were announced. It’s another way this system stinks.
S
Stech

So you are saying only teams that played in Conf Champ can get in? No ND?
B
Big12 guy

I'm saying that Been punished by playing
in that game. BYU was ranked higher than ND and Miami. Only lost to a top 5 team (twice), and should have gotten in over ND, Miami, and Alabama. It was pure bias. I don't agree with your take on ND, but I don't see a need to obsess on ND. That is an internal ACC matter, and isn't really any of my business. i will ask though, how many teams played ND before they added ACC games? How many of those games would have been scheduled with ND if they didn't? Miami, Pitt, GT, then FSU and Cuse are the only schools that had a history with ND before those games were added, and it's my contention that ACC schools would never have been added to ND's schedule except for the arrangement you guys have with them. The ACC is Irish Lucky to have those games. I think you should show more appreciation for the privilege of playing ND. (if down votes were allowed, I'm certain that I would get about 30 or more for that post) - but it's my personal position.

I want to expand the playoff & get rid of Champ Games, but you can’t ignore
them until they do that. Bama BYU got blown out less than 24 hours from when they picked the teams. Ignoring that happened is malfeasance or at a minimum ridiculous. IMHO, ND should have gotten in over both of them. So I support them in this case, but I will not stop saying when they get special treatment too. Even if you and others use insults to stop me from speaking out on them, I am not going to stop.
